went to nick and sons today. was hoping to try the larger weekend menu but i guess they meant the actual weekend sat-sun cause menu was the same.
just got 3 plain 4 choco croissant no photos u alrwsdy saw these s***s

this was carrot dough with spicy cumin lamb

spicy cumin lamb definitely hit more than the straight cheese filling, i liked these
tbh probably wldnt order again frm these ppl as i fl ive satisfied my curiosity but i like the concept and everything
i had a crazy dinner
flor camorlinga's residency at fulgurances, laundromat ending tomorrow night
fulgurances is a restaurant that only hosts chef residencies, started in paris, branched into nyc last year.
been meaning to hit fulgurances for a while but flor's menu was the first that genuinely genuinely i couldnt stop thinking abt and this may be the best meal ive had this year!!!

started off w a red/white masa tostada w mussels and a shiitake salsa borracha (salsa macha + beer)
next to it is a red crab tartelet w a cabbage leaves...... the tartlet tbh was ok but the tostada was genuinely so good
coconut and blood orange hiramasa + shrimp aguachile with !!!!! dried shrimp mayo!!!!!!!!
the dried shrimp mayo actually was crazy like.... so good on its own i want a tub of it at home

toasted rice + scallion + shiitake topped fish head + guajillo chile broth soba
so fragrant, so good

pigs head terrine w japanese red bean buree and avocado puree. also really really really good

duck liver + heart stuffed empanada topped w black garlic sauce + daikon pickles. the savoriness of the filling brought out the flavors of the blue corn masa so well

first of spring morels + beef cheek taco
anatto seed crema
another straight hitter..... all of the dishes smelled so good as soon as they hit the table this was no exception

snapper w fried scales+ cucumber + two sauces --i think they green one may have been spinach related and the other horseradish cream
v tasty but not the strongest dish compared to the others, still tasty and fish was so delicate

cheese course of toquera + aged cotija cheese cream, arbol chili salt, chapulines (grasshoppers)
this was it for me.... this was salty, super buttery, super umami, the toquera was tender but the chapulines were so crunchy etc etc. 11/10 best bite of the yera

roasted pineapple, spicy choco mousse type thing. mightve been chipotle peppers
this was incredibly good, one of the most complex tasting yet delicious desserts ive had all year. hit every flavor note.

seaweed jelly sheet over sobet... again super weird imagine sweet furikake but like super good as a dessert. i imagine it kinda scratches a similar itch hawaiian chex mix scratches
overall llike.... some of the most interesting flavor/texture/etc combos ive had in a long while

spring lamb birria using a 100 yr old family recipe ๐ฅบ, avocado leaf basmati rice, spring garlic, radish. came w side of blue corn tortillas
so so so good

thick ice cream, i got the deep fried caramel pecan cornbread in the small cup and bf got the cookie dough in banana fudge
ice cream made fresh daily
i liked the banana fudge a lot, not too sweet and has a nice banana flavor (rl banana)
bf liked the cornbread one more, its super rich and sweet

seitan buffalo chicken wings, every bit as good as champs + same sauce
hangover bowl (biskies, hash browns, vegan egg scramble, vegan sausage gravy, tomatillo salsa)
bf got the waffle fried chicken sando
hashbrowns were super good but tbh i wish the biscuits were more moist bt... i guess they r vegan lol

just got 12 choco chip cookies from la cantine
half for my friends here and half for my friends fam in the bay
gonna try to hit like 4 spots before my flight tom
went to saraghina last night and got like pizza, pasta, oxtail dish, salad and bread w whipped ricotta was all pretty good
then we went to petees pies and got slice of lemon chess, almond black bottom chess, brown butter pecan, banana cream ice box, and chocolate cream pie
also a pint of petees vanilla ice cream not pictured which was really good

ngl the food this trip was just aight cause last time my friends girl was the one deciding where to eat and she knew all the good spots but this trip she was busy all month w finals so hasnโt been home for dinner much and i donโt know s*** out here so i just been letting my friend decide and he on some bs boxers diet so we just been eating the blandest chicken breast and veggie type spots for the most part
luckily inm more into pastries than actual food
and then went to xian today and finally tried the lamb noodles was pretty good

just went to antidote got some chinese food was pretty good. got like dan dan noodles, the fried chicken w peppers, cumin lamb, fried rice and bokchoi
then went to gentile gelato and got scoop of chocolate and scoop of almond on some black and tan s***
was really good
so glad my friend girls is done w finals now lol too bad itโs my last night here

carrot dough (orange part) plus black pepper dough (beige part)
filled w kapusta potato (potato, onion, carrot, cabbage)
filling was nice, i think the cumin lamb ones were the best though
and u cant rly taste the dumpling wrapper flavors tbh

pan roasted broccoli + spicy italian sausages
bread crumbs fried in the sausage fat
basted the broccoli w a lot of thomas straker inspired anchovy, garlic, and calabrian chili butter
overall v simple and tasty
