Jason’s deli use to have a papa verde sweet potato that was so good! Unfortunately they discontinued it, this is my take on it.

Sweet potato, roasted turkey, spinach, avocado, jalapeño cheese and spicy ranch 😋

Then went and got a couple of the limited ed chiikawa x tokyo banana collab cake boxes for the girlies
All the girlies in line had 3 boxes each i felt v one with them

In line rn for mich bib gourmand tonkatsu at tonkatsu marugo got there 30 before open, line was already 40 ppl deep

Online res mainly, a pain to book, though spots do open up every hour or so when ppl cancel

We put our name down at the kichijoji branch of hikiniku to come (japanese hambagu resto) at 9:40 am and got one of the last 2 two tops for the day for 2p
Tried to make online res for the shibuya branch on friday but no luck (shibuya opens res friday 9am for the following week starting monday. I was on the site at 9am but my page crashed and then they were all gone by the time i refreshed)
They dont take walkins

Kichijoji branch takes names at 9am for the day. If u go eary enough u can tell them what time u wanna go back (eg 7pm)
Kichijoji area has niche animal cafes (we hit the cat/capybara cafe but they have meerkat, owl, etc cafes too) and the ghibli museum (book 1 month ahead or b rejected)
We didnt book ahead for ghibli n flopped
U can book cafes but they have walkin openings if ur a small group even if they say theyre booked

Honestly i like the hambagu i make a lot more lol
I think having pork n breadcrumb in the hambagu leads to a better mouthfeel
Plus i like my ponzu more n idk overall pairing
Not worth the effort to book or take an hr train at 8am at all fr fr fr
Their rice is good n like sourced from blahblah but u cld just buy a bag of boujee ass rice urself and cook it

U can pick ur own egg (they have a bunch of diff egg from diff farms n prefectures. Yuzu egg where the chickwn eats yuzu for example—it did taste subtly of yuzu. Kinda fun but not worth going out ur way for in any shape or form lol

So i looked at the flower/veg market (not interesting imo), then watched the arashio-beya early morning sumo practice (free. 7:30 start time, get there at 7:30 and b sure to wait by window for good view. Tour to sit inside is avail but u need to sign up early and pay. Can take pic w Arashio himself after either way at 8:30 (practice end) :)

Aftwr went to centre the bakery for shokupan/fr toast
Fr toast was hella soggy.
Ppl were ravint abt it online but i really didnt like it.

Was the subject of the movie ramen heads, basically just jiro dreams of sushi or chefs table netflix but for this ramen guy.
Tsukemen. I rlyyyy liked the food but they highkey called us shina which ig is the equiv of being called “chinita” or something 😭 like slightly offputting
Food was fire though, nothinf but respect
The chashu was rly yum, overall flavor combos rly yum, tsukemen sauce super flavorful and rich/pungent. Noodles super springy and slurpable.
Online res possible or u can line up. If ur 15 late they give ur seat away.

Worth the trek but theres really good ramen in tokyo too so also… cld just hit one of those

After went to kewpie HQ (mayo terrace in sengawa… another like 1hr train) for the kewpie tour and to buy some kewpie merch. Got a free small mayo, exclu kewpie pencil, kewpie coasters, kewpie hand towel, and stainless steel kewpie mayo stand (ebay has for 100usd, u can by there for like 14usd). U need to sign up in advance or else the sec guard in his giant egg security box will hold u until someone else says its ok. I didnt sign up bc i didnt understand the website and the lady on the phone spoke 0 english and seemed to just b rattling times they would have tours… i wld say i dont understand in japanese and then she wld just repeat the exaxt same thing over again like an npc so i just showed up and they happened to b doing another english tour right about then. Id ask ur hotel to sign u up if u wanna go. But only worth if u stan kewpie and want merch.

Booked waninoniwa on ig for omu rice (2nd place prize winning omurice) honestlyyyyyy the sauces were w weird for me u get 3 sauces per omu rice
I just want 1 sauce demi glace omu rice LOL. But they have like…. Japanese pickle Cream cheese, 4 cheese, tomato/pepper, etc. egg was good n rice was goos, but not worth big booking effort

Then hit la foret in harajuku and bought shoes from old order (shanghainese brand). La forets a mall stocking lolita/gyaru/etc clothes but also have boutiques carrying small japanese/korean/chinese brands and int’l brands. Saw rick, marine serre, priscavera, cavempt, justine clenquet, grounds, collina strada, yueqi qi, etc etc etc. small online only ig makers too they stock (eg leeann huang). Stan
Then walked around shibuya (archive the store for archival cdg/undercover/etc, 10tow for secondhand cdg/undercover/noir kei ninomiya, etc) but didnt cop
Went to music cave (vinyl listening bar) but honestly was kinda lame. Drink was fine, bartender was rly nice. Guy was playing vinyls n the sound systems rly good. But music was not as good as i expected, i think mainly since place was full of like

Finally hit だいこんや 虎ノ門 for dinn
Izakaya specializinf in daikon dishes. Booked a few days ahead, but res not needed. They do omakase or a la carte, we did a la carte. This was so good 🥺 and the ppl were so nice and tried their best to explain the dishes. They arent rly a spot that gets tourists, so they were really trying their best to communicate, and my japanese is so chopped. We got thru tho :)
standouts were daikon mochi (free amuse bouche), mixed oden which included taro w hatcho miso, braised daikon w shaved kombu (looked like tissue paper or napa cabbage leaves or somethint). Really recommend, as long as u know some japanese basics or have internet to translate. Just an immense amount of care put into sourcing and flavor combos and preparation.

Last meal in jp was kaisendon at みこ食堂. Super quick, arrived stood in line ate and left w/n 30 min.
V good quick meal, not worth going out ir way for but if ur in a hurry this is 13/10. Multiple branches, photo menu, card ok

Did get a 7/11 tamago sando but i did not like it the ig girlies r bugging. It was j so mayo-y and the bread is fine. I think heckelns was better but also like…. I fl likw u can find a lot of decent tamago sandos even in the states 😭
