“Better than ever” You have not seen the charts during the early 2000’s then. Also radio has way too much influence on the charts right now. Especially pop radio which plays mostly white rappers.

honestly billboard needs to stop giving radio so much power, but they won't cause I guarantee you the radio industry pays them big money to keep things as they are now

I hope the Rollin stones charts outgrow billboard, because they don't count radio play at all.

Mfs been saying this since 2013 after Macklemore and Iggy had their small moments. It’s never going to happen

People don’t realize the image and effect that ignorant gangster rap has.

Don’t get me wrong I listen to a lot of gangster rap (aka street rap according to ktt) but only in small spurts because it is so negative

Rap created a whole wave of black consciousness and awareness from 1988-to the late 90s (97 or so) I just wanted to state that before people come in saying music has no effect on the culture

Violent crime was way worse in the 90s and started to up trend in the 80s largely due to the d*** trade affecting impoverished neighborhoods and has been on the decline since like 91, stop this narrative.

there's not many white rappers making trap out here to say it's being white washed imo.

thats why i said the SOUND. Current trap sells to the masses very well particularly frat dudes or whatever.

So you don’t think streaming is killing radio influence?

but it’s only teally gonna be consumed by her fanbase so again, as we saw with JB, i dont think that will have an effect, especially when it comes to the topic in op (whitewashing of hip hop)

looking at top charts on AM and the only white artists in the top 50 are Mac Miller (who is obviously accepted and respected) and justin bieber if you want to count him because of the sound of his song
