social media companies have created a system that rewards you for fitting into the already established system of aesthetics and trends, and going against the grain basically leaves you outta the convo
everyday people get online and see what "works"
i would think that subconsciously, people pick up on these cues and alter their behavior / interests / thoughts in order to attain that same validation
you have all of these influencer personalities that are sell-outs, influencing the consumers to embrace the sell-out culture and be like them
is originality still celebrated as much as it used to be?
it's a slow bleed but how many thoughts are truly yours? are your interests / purchases a result of your own nuanced lifestyle / influences or are they the result of an influencer with corporate interests shilling a brand, ideology, or whatever
things are getting watered down and so damn tired
