Denzel was in interviews confident about this album. He's had the title in his head since 2018. Thought it through this time and made an album from a genuine place of self reflection and growth. He was talking about how he deserves a Grammy, he probably believes this is his magnum opus

It's gotta sting seeing someone get a lot more attention and praise for discussing similar topics mainly because of reasons other than the music itself. If Kendrick gets AOTY and Denzel doesn't even get nominated for Best Rap Album, he gonna be hurt af. I actually agree with you that Kendrick is better than Denzel as a rapper and artist but there is not a huge gap in quality between these two albums. That's why I suggested comparing lines, because that's an easier criteria to illustrate that than saying "This flow is better than that one" or "This beat is harder"
