so if someone made the greatest hip hop album of all time and then hid the copies in a cave to never be discovered is he suddenly not as good as a mediocre rapper whos really comfortable on stage?

How can you have the greatest of something of only you heard it? Who determines its the greatest?

He is a better lyricist than drake. He isn’t a better rap artist than drake. He doesn’t impact rap as much as drake. He doesn’t perform rap music better than drake. Drake is better at hooks as well.

What is impact? can you define that for me? You mean he's popular? Popularity has nothing to do with quality, it's marketing and accessibility, exhibit A drakes last few albums have been atrocious and still sold like crazy. Are those albums suddenly great displays of his abilities as an emcees because they did well commercially? Also whos to say he doesn't perform as well as Drake? Have you seen them/compared them? What is so great about Drake's performances anyway, all he has to do is show up and crowds go crazy lmfao, wow what a great emcee! Drake is better at hooks? Great, I guess rapping has to do with hooks now

You can be popular and influence nothing like post Malone. So it’s not popularity. You remove Mach hommy from rap and it looks fairly the same. Remove drake and it looks drastically different. That’s impact.

And yes crafting a hook is part of being an emcee and rap artist.

    Who has drake influenced?

Besides Mach Hommy isn't trying to influence anyone, he's just an amazing rapper in his own niche. Put Mach Hommy and Drake in a room right now and have them rap for me back to back. Drake hardly even an emcee far as I'm concerned. He's a pop artist

Is Green Day a better rapper than Mach Hommy because they perform well on stage and are an impactful band?

What if your music is consciously devoid of hooks, as a stylistic choice?

If we keeping it real though a cannibal ox venue is more emceeing because you’re rocking a small room, arena performances lose some of that MC factor and you become another arena rock/pop show

So I don’t think you get more credit for doing a bigger venue tbh

    Fax

Arena crowds scream the moment the artist appears on stage

Small crowds you gotta win over. That's real emcee s***

I just agreee that he is the better lyricist. Lol that’s is what putting them is a room would do. Ask them to make a rap song to influence a generation and drake wins that every time.

    It’s different aspects to emceeing.

There is no other arena where the best of something have little influence. I’m sorry if you’re the best you should have impact.

I never said bigger venue. If you put drake in a small room full of ox fans he still rocking it.

"ask them to make a rap song to influence a generation and drake wins every time"

First of all, Drake does not make rap songs that influence a generation. Name the song. What song? He's a pop artist dog

Secondly, assuming you're correct, why is that? Mach Hommy is too niche of an artist to reach even 2% of the audience Drake reaches. He doesn't even have the platform to make a rap song that "influences a generation". Drake could release an EP of himself farting in a mic and it would sell 100x the copies a Mach Hommy project would. You're confusing popularity for being a great emcee. The forefathers would be disappointed

  • Sep 21, 2020

Joe Budden said it perfectly. You put Kendrick and Royce on a stage and Royce wins the lyrical battle but Kendrick outperforms royces every time. Two different skills but equally as important to emceeing.

why, because he hires a billion producers and engineers and sings through antares about absolutely nothing? and because he has "good energy" when he performs that mediocre music live? if hes such a good performer then I wanna hear him sing without autotune . jumping around and screaming doesnt make you a good performer lmfao

an artist is using other people and ideas to bring your own.

Rick Ruben said it best. No one congratulate you for doing it by yourself. Specially if its not good

Drake has helped more people through life with his music then Earl. You might not want to hear that but it’s true. Enough people haven’t heard earl for him to have the same impact.

Travis isn't even the primary aspect of his own music tho. He takes all the credit for what other people do. If he was the member of a music group with a collective name I'd openly praise their work. He's not a great emcee just cuz he goes around jumping and screaming in front of seas of suburbanite cacs

Drake helped people through what? Crying in the shower about a girl lmao? Drake hasn't been through s*** its evident in his music. Earl at least makes music that people who deal with mental issues and real problems can relate to. Just because Drake is more popular that doesnt take away from that

  • Sep 21, 2020

Name another arena of life where the best isn’t also influential or impactful.

Only rap do we consider these closet lyricist the best when only two peopl heard the songs.

I've asked multiple times, name a song that he made that's influential. Name an album he made that's influential. Name an artist or artistic movement that he influenced
