You literally just said staying in would’ve done it justice bro
“Some” justice.
If the government don’t take it seriously there’s gonna be citizens that will follow suit. It’s ok to say the government fumbled this whole thing.
The thing is, if they acted fast in the liberal West, there would be no support among the population at all. In the beginning, when the first cases where there they said in Europe and the US: it's just like the flu, where thousands die from every year.
While in Asia and Africa, where they had more recent virus outbreaks w SARS and Ebola etc. they immediately did the lockdown after a couple cases. So it peaked less there. We never had that experience. And yes, many intelligent people said (also based on the far past, like the Spanish flu) that how faster the lockdown, how lower the peak. But if government wouldve closed everything down that early here, with no recent bad virus outbreaks, it wouldve caused mass protests. It's actually one of the weak points of democratic countries, who are mostly slower to act. Cause they need the support of their citizens and we are used to freedom and human rights etc. If it happens again in the upcoming years, i think our governments would respond much faster tho
if governments were to force non essential companies to stop operating and give them the support they needed to pay their staff to stay home, how likely is it that people would have wanted to leave their house.
if healthcare professionals had the appropriate PPE how likely would it have been for the number of these people to spread it to their family / die?
Most cases of government incompetencies haven’t been because we’ve never experienced it, swine flu was about 12/11 years ago.
It’s just the cold hard fact that most of the current world leaders care more about the economy than human life.
prime minister of the UK’s aide said “herd immunity should work and if a few old people die to save the economy then that’s too bad”.
We're in Worl War 3. Olympics have been cancelled thrice since its beginning. Once for World War 1 and Twice for World War 2.
Thrice
