He's a great performer but this is the superbowl bro, not a concert where people specifically choose to see him live
He has to perform songs the general public would know and that's only This Is America, Feels like Summer, Redbone and 3005. The last two aren't suitable for the Superbowl, he would not move the crowd with those tracks. You say Abel had a "lackluster performance" but Donald would have been exponentially worse. End of story.

This sounds better than I expected live
but I still don't see it working in a stadium setting with fireworks popping off
