this the appeal ozma has tbh outside of the early weezer fix is they went with that and really came at the right time to tap more into the retro videogame appeal to it - weezer had that nerdy thing and some references but it wasn’t like that, it’s just bc what rivers knew, but since it grew into some movement now 8bit music is a thing covering videogame stuff with your band and so ozma really carried that while mixing with the weezer aesthetic so they secured a bag there bc a whole scene jumped on it after them

ahhh that's cool, i remember i listened to a nerdcore song once that referenced nerdcore listeners loving weezer so with the weezer influence and video game stuff they def tapped into that market.

man nerd core scene like all that stuff using all 8bits sounds into their s*** owes all to ozma (the filter that tapped into it) and weezer (the ogs who unconsciously birthed it, same with pinkerton and emo)

i mean does it get more obvious than this, a weezer cover by nerdcore kings with 8bits sounds and s***

should make a celebration post of some of the coolest covers of weezer by other artists

i remember thinking his music was kinda crazy when i first heard it, his voice (which i think is real and not pitched up) lowkey sounds like a prerequisite to 100 gecs/osquinn stuff of today (obviously those artists have a wider range of influences but u know what i mean)
