It's actually an amazing thing to see from my perspective bc he was the one that got me so hyped about music in the first place
We have this window sill in our house that's full of old CDs going from Led Zeppelin to U2 to Red Hot Chili Peppers and even one Snoop Dogg album
It was always amazing to find new music online or whatever and then come to that place and find out my dad was listening to the music I'm discovering now yeeears before
He always shows me new stuff even now and he put me on bands like Arcade Fire (which is one of my all time favs) or Queens Of the Stone Age
We were on Foo Fighters and Jack White concerts together. So it's super fun to see how he is the old generation growing up on Led Zeppelin or Clapton and Miles Davis and mashing this up now with some modern stuff I listen to
And me being rap mostly now but going back to the roots my papa gave me like Nirvana or QOTSA
It's because of him that now I know so much about music and I literally listen to every genre there is
So now we're basically in perfect synergy bc sometimes I show him something new and sometimes he shows me something new and we keep expanding our taste buds together

and that’s the blueprint of a bright young intelligent man right there
keep that energy with you no matter how old you get no matter the ups and downs and challenges, it’s a valuable quality because within this you actually find to understand what defines you
like you open a big door only to help yourself to narrow down more, it’s what it comes down to, ok you like this and why you like this, but that doesn’t click too much and why is that, and by understanding these you get a better sense of your own character and how you perceive things if you get what i mean
sorry it’s late and more brainy than what you prolly expected of a reply
QOTSA F***ING ROCKS

and this RHCP song been on my mind lately, an underrated gem:

if you looking for other more new generation bands tht maybe you and your dad will like try wavves - if you haven’t already?

this a gem @Noir

What's ss2k?
in 2000 weezer did a live come back, the first activity from the band since pinkerton hiatus, where they performed lot of new songs which were early work of album 3 before rivers scratched it for what became green album
in 2001 when the green album dropped and only hash pipe of all the many many new songs premiered in 2000 made the cut fans had a reaction, big enough that it got to rivers who was pleasantly surprise to be put together an official tracklist of the 10 songs out of all the new songs they did to give to the fans as the lost album of those 2000 summer songs, therefor SS2k was born: summer songs of 2000.
