📻 SONG OF THE DAY 📻

I think this one is a hidden treasure, the story behind this is cool: if you listen to it with no context it sounds like a band from the 00s generation influenced by weezer, but the singer Kevin Ridel was actually the singer of Avant Garde back in the 80s, Rivers band pre weezer!

They’re super close friends, so much that for this band Rivers became their manager for some time, so it’s only natural that this collaboration would happen.

Rivers even wrote a song about his friend Kevin: “I Admire You So Much” from Alone II.

It’s a beautiful mellow song, Rivers isn’t ultra present but enough to bring some lines and sweet harmonies and while this is criminally slept on I think lot of fans would love this song.

(I like the percussion that feels Pet Sounds influenced? but maybe that’s just me)

it’s one of the most wholesome video in the entire universe it’s literally weezer in the middle of a pool of fans and their instruments:

it’s from this session/show but in that video i link they’re like taking a break r fixing something or warming up moving onto the next song or whatever and so there’s a pause and one or two fan starts to improvise impromptu jamie and the band notices it as more and more fans joins along and follow the fans and start playing the song with them

aw man thank you that means a lot to me, like i say im on a mission and tired of the weez being the underdogs when they’re the only good 90s band still going and every time i put new ppl here to it they love, even more so their recent work!

such a relief feeling to get weezer out of this stinky rym - reddit - 4chan - needle drop smelly communities when they just condemn anything the band or rivers does post pinkerton with their opinions already set up unless it’s all guitars stuff

tbh worked my ass off here and glad to see where it’s at now, it’s alive without being off topic there’s still great intense lenghty posts and conversations back and forth focused only on music and weezer or weezer related but you’re right it is the biggest thread going that isn’t hip hop, we got over lil uzi thread and about to reach kendrick lamar thread
