same with mexican fender which is about this singer ina band he met and hang out with, in this beautiful demo song from white era he used those hangouts even more with great details

Very good point. I think because the instrumentals and melodies are so sugary my brain was shutting off the impact of the words. I think what connects all Weezer albums together is getting that glimpse into the mind of Rivers. Even when the sounds change, Rivers doesn't.

Are Weezer like a household name? I have to say I'm not really aware of their popularity, like they were really f***ing huge in their commercial prime right?
It's weird... they never were breaking sales records or anything like that, and have never had a number one hit, but anybody who was old enough to be following music in the 90s knows who Weezer are. Then Beverly Hills established them again in the early 2000s. I think Weezer's one of those bands everyone's at least heard the name.

yes it’s why weezer is so misunderstood blue and pink weren’t a mission of indie music against big pop stuff or rivers to save rock or whatever he just wanted to be the new nirvana bc that’s just what was cool and hot he was still listening to toni braxton and s***
so these albums happened bc of what was relevant then

what makes weezer is rivers and his infectious intelligent hooks and super crafted songwritting

weezer in usa def are
they had enough hits over decades to hold that
blue album in the 90s, green album in the 00s (which is where they really cross over france etc) make believe (beverly hills won grammy and either the song or the album are the first milli sell on itunes) then red album and today with teal and pacific daydream who did great charting or radio plays etc so they’re consistent relevant
it’s just in france we be behind and ignorant
