Can’t believe I never heard this groovier version of Butterfly before. Original is of course the best but this is really nice.
“Jimminy Cricket” lmao

!https://youtube.com/watch?v=rBIKB12DOd4&feature=sharehaha you’re in your mb phase aren’t you? altho this is from mala era but was released for mb promo
i forgot the exact details but the story behind this performance is basically some guy challenged them, idk if it’s their camp or something like a bet like you guys could never pull off a full on band version of butterfly!
but they went for it all the way, scott really having fun on the bass, i LOVE and actually sorely miss his game and sound from that specific era, he was on a roll check the intro he had going on here it even catches rivers off guard:

altho he writes crazy good bass lines as of recently (see high as a kite) but loved that funk he had there
dont think they ever redone butterfly like this tho like i said it was just bc of someone bringing the idea up
also yeh rivers was pretty funny during those performances, think he was on d**** lol lot of live recordings from that era has him going on like that i remember in one he’s like “why does the security guards have gloves? what they doing to you?”

thank you so much for the lovely words, right back at you and your amazing taste, hope you had a blast and wish nothing but the best all love my brother be safe
here’s a song to thank you for the kind post

man this really so effortless for him to pull off a classic retro weezer song in this day and age no matter how old he is... kinda mad it doesn’t make the regular tracklist but we do get la girlz already which really fills the bill of the throwback blue album feel and you wouldn’t that too much, need some room for new sounds like jacked up or what not
dude didn’t miss once at that time tho he was set a mission to accomplish and made that his b**** like it was nothing

you have the right mindset! i think of white as pretty instant and the best bridge to new and old school weezer but you’re right, especially with something like pinkerton! it’s considered their best with blue but can take some listens to digest it’s rawness and intensity and how rich it is
it is no wonder when it dropped it was rated 1 stars out of 5 by the rolling stones only for them to re-review it like 20y later (late in the game ofc way after the album picked its strong cult as the most beloved 90s cult album) and give it like 5 stars out of 5, goes to show!
and no way that made my day! never ever had i once thought it would put anyone on ktt onto the softies let alone their gf
thsts amazing, isn’t it sad how their absolute unknown still? how is that possible they have the perfect indie take (and from way back, before it became cool and a scene of today) yet so melodic
much love god bless both of u

i got muted for pressing them over locking and moving this thread right here for no reason at all so can’t say im surprised at this
I thought tyler the creator was a good answer
that was an elite answer for sure
problem with my answers (UGK and Nas) have iconic features that were hits as well so I didn't know if they counted

Im so grateful for the softies man, sleep away your troubles instantly became one of my most played songs this year!
Also yeah I understood from reading around(and you) that the White album is more accessible, but I really wanna have my time with the record you know, get some solid 5-6 dedicated, careful listens.
Cant wait to share my thoughts when I actually do that tho,Im posting here ASAP!
