dunno if anyone answered you yet ( @Ithaka probably saw this somewhere by now) but basically Rivers father Frank is in his 70s now, sometime in the last few years he was brutally beaten while walking home from work, now he's no longer able to eat solid foods and the beating is causing him gradual brain damage so piece by piece he's losing cognitive abilities

Dead Roses features lyrics along the lines of "they beat you till you begged to live, you were mine and you were always mine"

weezer holds a special place in my heart but always been hit or miss for me fall in and out of love with their work since 3rd grade. This album tho ungodly good
