Idk I’d say when it comes to popular 90’s bands, Radiohead is more consistent.

    No I didn’t 🤔

so the concept behind the blue album wasn’t to make a blue album perse

in fact it was never referenced as the blue album until the green album was a thing, it was referenced as self titled

the original idea behind was that rivers had this super random pretty obscure (prolly got it cos it’s prolly worth cheap dirt) beach boys compilation on cassette titled do it again:

i forgot what rivers said about it id have to look it up but he loved the photo used for the cover and wanted to have a modern spin to it, redo that but without the matching gimmick just casual dressing and there it was: blue background with them on the front

they apparently did attempt a first photo shoot with matching stripped shirts too tho, wish they would release that would be fun to see

also this photo during the green album recording sessions:

references this famous pet sounds recording sessions photo:

both albums were recorded at same studio

there’s more photos where the weez pays tribute to some beach boys photos

    (from pacific daydream promo)

and much more where that came from

great art always comes from making new with old

This is fascinating. I honestly always thought it was an homage to that Feelies record.

also weezer drops a yearly single to their fanbase

the last one was this song titled it’s been so long and it’s starts with the same sample that’s used in a popular offspring song it’s so weird idk what’s the story there????

anyway song has rivers singing about looking back to things they used to do, wanting to pay donkey kong again

anyway here’s the artwork for it

you can see at bottom right the cd collection with the smashing pumpkins on the front and most subtlety and importantly you can have a little glimpse at one that is blue and says THE BES and BEACH B and im thinking this is an allusion to that cassette compilation and its blue image that inspired blue album, altho it looks different but i think they wanted to slip it in without giving it away, in a cheeky way

I think their most fun era was more like The Bends and Pablo Honey and some of OK Computer

When I saw them live the crowd got turnt to those songs, everybody went zzz to the Moon Shaped Pool songs

    blue album cover so classic

so hard to not be tempted to not recreate it, even if you’re not musician

actually requested brian bells sister (she is a milf) to redo it with her kids! she has many and they’re into music, one of them looks a lot like brian too it’s weird lol

ok rozco back in this b**** LOVE the last singles they’re like white album feels but with some pop and maladroit feel (bc of the guitar s***)???

beginning of the end is the best imo that one is classic weez 🥵🥵🥵

make sure to hear the deluxe songs of white! they’re are as good if not better!

lovin ur energy with that statement to me it’s pacific daydream i sometimes rank it higher than pinkerton but then im like you’re tripping but i like it as much don’t kill me

I need to listen to PD. Pinkerton is top 10 of all time for me but I listens to the green album and maladroit today and they’re both so f***ing great.

They shred so hard on Maladroit

PD doesn’t have riffs or solos tho just big warning

    it’s pop weezer

if you want more guitar go to ewbaite it even has instrumentals shredding lol but i think you already know that one no?

    it’s like a contemporary painting

one is cool and makes you think

but then you turn your head around and it’s all white paintings with one red dot

    you made your point

    it just gets depressing lol

  • Jan 6, 2021

that’s why weezer shouldn’t be bullied into remaking blue album constantly

Thom Yorke went from a young dude who just dreamed to be a rockstar to refusing to dap Chris Martin and Kanye lol

Idk I'm a bit older now and I'm still not that serious about life and still find the whole rockstar thing cool and I don't think that'll ever change

I don’t, but I love pop weezer. I’ve been pretty out of the loop since Make Believe.

Hold Me has to be one of their best songs ever.

They’re considered an influence on them in the playlist Apple Music made of Weezer influences.
