Nah
Pinkerton Cover Art
The cover art of Pinkerton is an antique Japanese ukiyo-e artwork by Hiroshige. It is number sixteen of the series, The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō. I chose this woodblock print because....it was on a postcard sent to me by my 'gf' Chiba and it captured the feeling of winter loneliness that I was feeling in Cambridge.

That’s super neat. The album totally fits that winter blues vibe. He made the right choice. First time I heard it was Christmas afternoon.

this is also the first time he comments on this:
Elliot Smith
I'm really starting to dig some of his songs.
My 90's "girlfriend", Jennifer Chiba, was his girlfriend at the time of his death. She left me a distraught voice message but I was in one of my first meditation courses.

yeah these are all from his entries from last year to today on his own riverpedia he made for his website he keeps updated and adds stuff we learning lotta s*** thru it (he says he doesn’t plan on releasing SFTBH) so im assuming it’s only recently he started to get into it or stans
i remember a similar story with the smiths where people would hype them up to him in 2001 and he was clueless

Rivers unawareness of certain things is adorable. You’d think he’d like The Smiths especially with their ear for bouncy and fun melodies lol

ill have to dig up the quote

still excellent but i’ve come to love the first few track run of the album the most, it’s just amazing chorus after amazing chorus. the sequencing is so good and it makes the transition into the more somber songs so much stronger
how about u how have u been!!

QB BLITZ
Mainly inspired by the lack of commercial breakthrough of the White Album, after hiring talent new management at the beginning of 2015. My wife wouldn’t do Khan Academy algebra with me. The phrase 'qb blitz' just came to me while writing stream of consciousness. Maybe it means I have to resort to drastic measures after being frustrated with more conservative play.

I’m sorry to hear that 😔 I’m glad you’re atleast doing a bit better
. And they’re all so good in the back half but Dead Roses especially is some of his best songwriting i’ve heard, and i feel like the production is so perfect for it, like i can see him waiting to bring this song the right way and it’s so good and fits so well
and omg i’m dying at rivers doing khan acamedy math. that s*** is mad unforgiving, i remember when i was a kid i tried the coding for kids lessons and that s*** was brutal and i gave up. i can absolutely understand how it would inspire Numbers

s*** is incredible and while i loved it first listen the more time and attention i’ve given it i realized how insanely well four tet executed the idea, all the different styles and sounds come together so perfectly. loose goose, road of the lonely ones, the call, dirtknock, hang out phone off, two for 2 for dilla, man every song !!!
i was thinking it’s honestly insane the caliber of releases we’ve gotten in the last two months. in that span we got a late career weezer masterpiece, WLR, MOTM3, Sound Ancestors, We Will Always Love You, and Jazmine sullivan project
We’re not worthy

has grown into one of my favorite songs of last year and one of their greatest singles, a pop masterpiece of a song. it’s unbelievable how well all 3 rivers vocal parts blend, it really feels like he was there making it with them
