assuming that trap = not weird beats or less different is a problem of mindset. they are still using weird beats. in a different subgenre. these are weird beats. certainly way weirder than earl's whole album with alchemist, those beats are way more traditional than what he could do with surf gang. just because its in a subgenre thats currently less commercially sucessful does not automatically make it more weird or interesting.

again, the way you perceive the effort level of it is irrelevant to its value or quality. hov freestyled all of his music and wayne freestyled all his s*** high so idk how thats relevant. what makes you think people never write verses because its over a trap beat? for a lot of people its way easier to have to just focus on writing and doing a coherent flow over a traditional boom bap beat than it is to have to condense that writing and do interesting faster rhythmic stuff over a evilgiane beat with unconventional rhythms. for me i find it way easier to focus on my writing over a action bronson type beat and not have to do much vocal trickery except sound confident and have a good flow, than to emulate someone like thug having to do melodies, higher tempos, sticky hooks, etc. i dont know if you have tried to make both, but thats just not always true.
