yeah yeah, and the thing on theory
when i was talking about “not following theory” and “constraints”
i’m talking about stuff like staying in key the whole time and arbitrary chord-making/progressions
a lot of it elsewise is just common sense like note intervals and what not but it’s good to know what you’re doing purposefully
i just hate the whole notion about having to be a god of musical theory to be a good musician and that’s just not true lol
Not hating but if you're interested I suggest trying to read up on music theory a bit more. I don't really have any resources since I learned this all in college, but almost all of western music theory is based on exploring key centers and different forms. There's really no music form besides pop music that stays in the same key the entire time, Any sonata, fugue, symphony, etc is deeply rooted in changing keys and changing in general. Like that is the foundation of those musical genres.
Imagine not enjoying Revolver
Facts, their only good album. The Beatles made history for their melodies and their arrangements. Beatlemania was created, justifiably, in response to the exuberant rock and roll they played in 1963 with electrical instruments and drums, that managed to revitalize a genre drowned in sugar coated orchestrations supporting teen idols. Revolver must definitely be credited with having created a new sophisticated living room pop art. However, Sgt. Pepper, their most famous album, is nothing more than a hypocritically commercial album, a collection of traditional pop songs masked as psychedelic avant garde music. It nevertheless served as a prelude to the baroque suite Abbey Road, the apex of their formality. Similar parallels can be found in almost every band of those times, but few listeners know the records of those bands.

Talking about rip offs on the forum originally dedicated to the dude one of whose most popular song's instrumental is a looped chorus of an already wildly popular song.

the beatles split before they ever dropped a truly terrible album, that quincy jones quote you're using to try and justify or prove your point is silly too lol. He's talking about their technical skill on instruments and performing abilities, it's a pointless statement though because you don't need to be a virtuoso to connect with an audience. Plus, quincy jones in the 21st century is just angry that the world forgot about him so every 3-4 years he does an interview and drops a KTT esque post
