ryuHI think he lost a lot of good will with the way he went about releasing CLB and FATD
He gave us his early career classics in his 20s (SFG, TC, NWTS, IYRTITL) but the most recent of those is almost 10 years old. He can’t just coast on those. He needed to really lock in and focus and drop some late career classics in his 30s, the equivalent of his Blueprint and Black Album. CLB and FATD should have been that. Ironically they were his 6th and 8th studio albums too.
I don’t hate those albums (I actually really like FATD, no Diddy) but they were so not that lol, way too unfocused, random, and bloated.
If he took CLB and FATD more seriously and they were received accordingly he would’ve been insulated from a lot of the hate he’s getting now, even if he still lost to Kendrick at the end of the day
Hyping up albums that end up being safe, all over the place, and low effort on execution makes him seem like a scam artist
100% I remember folks being excited about his next project after scorpion cuz it was the longest break he had taken in a while.. CLB had some nice songs but way too bloated and it had the same features as always.

He had Yachty on and he was giving Yachty a lot of praise for helping him with his music, being a good friend, etc. Said he really appreciates Yachty's help in making music. Yachty jokingly talks about how if Drake didn't meet Yachty he'd be wearing Tom Ford Cashmere sweaters and skinny pants, etc.
I thought that was a perfect encapsulation of the issues Drake has right now. He hasn't grown up. He shouldn't be hanging out with Yachty so much that his music is influenced by Yachty. He shouldn't be trying to cosplay as Yachty with his outfits. He looks and sounds ridiculous.
He's trying to stay young, when what people really want out of him is maturity. Yachty and Drake should be in different points in their lives, yet Drake is trying to stay in Yachty's age range.
Staying "young" will get the streams, which ultimately keeps him on top money wise etc, but music wise you see the clear decline.
The only way Drake really breaks out of this "fall off" is if he finally grows up and brings in mature music. CLB, Her Loss, FATD, had enjoyable music, but barely any of it really sounds like it is coming from a seasoned, mature individual. Scorpion had more mature themes in it. He regressed maturity wise.
Even in the beef, Kenny is coming at it from a "mature perspective" (Even though neither guy really is being mature. They're using each other's innocent family members to push their agenda and get the win, but that's a topic for another time. i like the effort u put into this post but i don't think i'll ever give a s*** about this point. it's disguised as "Drake is immature" but boils down to "drake doesn't make the type of music I wish he would make".
is having younger friends immature? idk.. besides, yachty is pushing 30 its not like he's a young kid anyway.
is living a playboy lifestyle immature? maybe, but it's also something famous musicians have been doing for thousands of years, including a bunch of those allegedly more mature artists.
there's not really a reason to be saying Drake is significantly less mature than his contemporaries. people want to have a semi-objective moral justification to hate him, but it's a fabrication. really, his crime is not making old head 4:44 type rap, which is a purely subjective criticism.

Of the last 3 years of Drake's career (CLB, Her Loss, HNVM, FATD), which is 23 + 16 + 21 + 14 (61) songs, how many of those were Yachty inspired in ur opinion? I'm pretty sure it's less than 5
This isnt as big of an issue as ur saying, those 4 tapes had plenty of mature music, as much as Views/Scorpion etc had. Yachty hasn't regressed his music, all he has done is made Drake start having more fun with it at times, which is a good thing.
there was even an interview w Yachty before FATD dropped where it was obvious he wasn't feeling FATD and he wanted Drake to take a more cohesive approach and Drake said nah and did his own s***.
Drake's immaturity problems isn't much to do with Yachty imo, it's more to do w the lifestyle. Cole/Jay Z/Kanye have all gone down teh same exact path. Cole is f***ing 39 years old making Grippy.

I don't really get this angle at all. I find it inspiring seeing Drake stay relevant, incorporate new flows and still be able to hang with - and often times - outdo the current gen
I find it cringeworthy and immature when I see rappers hit 30 start spitting verses about their stock investments, art collection or bookstore-chain self help advice, because it always sounds forced and holier-than-thou that they have to shove it in my face that they're "a grown man rappin 'bout grown man stuff"
Seeing Drake at the top for so long was like watching Ye become the first rapper to have a number 1 song in 3 decades with Carnival or if we were to witness Lebron win a championship at age 40 next season
Guarantee if Drake was still doing the twitter hashtag flow like its 2012 or if he was to beef with every new rapper the same people who criticize him now for doing the opposite would still find a way to hate on him. I think people just don't like the guy

serenadehonestly nevermind and her loss almost gained him back the goodwill he lost between views and CLB, but then he followed those up with a rushed midlife crisis album he recorded on tour. scary hours 3 was good but attaching it to FATD as a deluxe caused people to overlook it.
Her Loss did more harm than good in the end IMO even if it was a great album.
