I agree
HNM definitely had a lot of hate but it did pretty well with the critics relative to his other releases this decade, it also has the most loyal cult following of any project he’s done this decade. Ultimately though it’s perceived as a novelty project and not really part of his main cannon and that’s why it didn’t gain him as much goodwill as his top tier projects.
Her Loss and FATD containing literally Zero EDM/House influence kind of underscores the novelty of HNM even more.
Her Loss definitely had him in people’s good graces too but it not being a solo effort made it a novelty project as well. People wanted to see him sustain that level of quality and execution on his own rap project.
2022 Drake seems like a distant memory already
her loss probably had my favorite promo roll out drake has done while actual executing a solid project

Being a sound engineer can very tedious. I bet 40 just doesn't commit the same amount of time to doing it.
WLR was more impactful than any Drake record this decade
He’s correct. Carti also has been a better artist than Drake for awhile.
Keep putting your head in the sand though
Drake started distancing himself from 40 when he found out he was the real mole during the pusha beef.
Got a new enginner and I barely see 40 production credits on any of drakes albums
Thats definitely not the main reason, i'd assume it has to do with out of respect for 40s health and getting back on his feet he decided to go w someone else. 40 speaks on it in this article rollingstone.com/music/music-features/noah-40-shebib-profile-1011388. Noel has been tracking him for awhile too.
Drake probably saw a decline coming and to counter that, he started linking with Adin, Kai Cenat and changed his look with the nails and everything. I have no idea if it worked. From what i've seen in real life, Travis is the king of the youth.
this is when i knew it was really over
then the unhinged OVO radio rant he went on right before For All The Dogs dropped
He really looks so tired and depressed man
Kendrick caught him at the right moment lol
wtf is this

This can’t be GOAT behavior im sorry
a bunch of viral Youtube docs about the downfall of drake
Sad

Can you post the rant?

He for sure knew the play , That's why I don't get how he wasn't better prepared for the battle
For All The Dogs + Scary Hours 3 + the OVO radio rant was coded with hella subliminals about what was gonna play out this year
Can you post the rant?
one of the OVO goons on here gotta find it, but it's the OVO Radio he did at like 3 A.M before For All The Dogs dropped. He was drunk as f*** saying he's taking a break from the industry and that he's probably gonna lose a lot of relationships after this project drops
I mean in retrospect it already happened. “The reign” probably ended in 2018 and honestly moreso in like 2016-2017 with the arrival of the new freshman class and how they “mattered” more than Drake. Carti had/has something in his movement that Drake couldn’t get no matter what he does or did in 2017 or moving forward
This don’t even get into the Pusha situation
lmao
her loss probably had my favorite promo roll out drake has done while actual executing a solid project

It’s a classic in my book, if it was a solo effort I think it would’ve definitely been embraced as a classic
It’s always something with Drake smh lol

I remember when he said this. His addiction to this rap s*** probably caused a u-turn.

I agree. It’s definitely not a classic but definitely shut all the noise surrounding the poor reception of HNM
