So are you asking me from a legal POV or just personal opinion?
Both
Obviously extreme cases of hate speech in a relationship are abusive being racist/homophobic/transphobic or threatening their life are very clear cut I think
I do a lot of the same things this guy does and I’m not getting cancelled. This is hilarious
Emotional abuse is such a lame word as someone who went to law school because how the f*** will you ever differentiate that from being mean to someone
There is a concept here in German law called the general risk of life stating that not every negative behavior can be dealt with using the law because life itself is full of risks we have to deal with daily
Can I say a woman emotionally abused me by giving me false hope? It might suck on a moral level but so what, it's a general risk of dating. To put that on the same level as acts that will get you behind bars like child abuse and rape is just f***ing insane lmao
I noticed a lot of these radlibs wanna codify everything into the realm of law and even criminalize it which is a troublesome development for me
the thing is emotional abuse and lovebombing are legitimate terms.
The problem is that a LOT of people overuse and downright abuse those terms for s*** that just aint what it is.
Someone flirting with you and taking you on 1-2 dates and then ghosting isn't love bombing nor is it gaslighting.
For example, love bombing was coined in the 70s after rescued cult members were studied.

I mean in a relationship you literally need to know when to withhold affection when ur partner is being s***ty so that you have clear boundaries but let these zoomers tell it that’s probably lovebombing too
we seeing cancellations for normal dating behaviour that every woman making these tiktoks have done
we hate to see it fr

They are legitimate terms for psychology and I know lovebombing is often used to describe relationships with Borderline Personality Disorder patients
But the words have been so watered down that just being mean is now abuse in the eyes of many laypeople
Of course this is not the fault of the psychologists but by inflationary use of the term you lower its value and impact

Yeah love bombing is very real in emotionally abusive relationships
It's part of the cycle of abuse
Abuse -> Showering with love and affection to make up for it -> Abuse -> showering with love and affection -> Abuse -> and so on
it forms an addiction in the victim's mind
S*** is funny but also it's f***ing up my game.
White artsy guys were at ATH with Pete Davidson and now our stock is crashing!!!

Crazy how this dude looks like a thumb and yet slays on these apps
Being a tall white man in the USA is a cheat code for life
Crazy how all these non-white women internalized colonialist attitudes so hard that their entire beauty standard boils down to white boy summer rejects
being tall is the male equivalent of having big b****

Think the best thing to do in these viral situations is realize everyone involved is truly the lowest common denominator. Vocal minority gonna always make it seem like it's bigger than what it really is.
Majority of women on twitter are either making jokes about the situation or calling these girls dumb for doxxing a man.

Legally I can think of coercion being a similar concept. You force someone to act against their free will by threatening them. Of course this happens daily (who wants to go to work lol) so usually countries add a social clause that the action you are coerced into must be socially repugnant, and that the strength of the threat must be big enough that you cannot reasonably expect a person to fight it.
Within the context of a relationship, you would have to decide whether the person was in a real position to defend themselves (for example by leaving the relationship) or if they were unable to. This really depends on how the person is, what the relationship looks like, what others would do...
Extreme forms would be a lover telling someone to kill themselves and the other person doing it. This happens occasionally and then we all argue whether it was suicide or murder by abuse. Usually we examine how the perpetrator's intent was, in what mental condition the victim was and so on.
Being a cult victim or "voluntary" (sex) slave and so on is also an example. Here you really have to ask yourself where the free will and personal responsbility of a person starts and ends.
They are complex questions in my view depending so much on specifics. Hence why the OP example is so ridiculous.
