sad bc the era actually has 30 songs you can put together to make a great project
a lot of fun leaks in my playlist for it
too bad he just kept hitting “randomize” for the tracklist
It has some great music on it but a lot of it could’ve just been left off
Some questionable production decisions etc
Kinda wish he had just did a full industrial tape like DOCTOR/POP OUT but I get this was supposed to be a blockbuster semi-crossover mainstream album ig
Got you hot huh lol
Anyways, check the responses. I’m not alone on this opinion
your "opinion" is based on nothing but vibes lmao
like if you really tried to somewhat objectively look at that album and apply the came and went title to it, you can't
and i say this while also acknowledging that pretty much every major release this year has not had much lasting power, but there's no way that music should be mentioned as a glaring example of such at all

in my playlist, I kinda separated them by acts
act 1: antagonist (burnt music)
act 2: guapo (melodic)
act 3: south atlanta baby (“combination”)
& made songs like crush, d**** got me numb, and sab the intro/interludes for them
it could still be fun at 30 songs but a focused bag was def needed

What are valid recent examples of “came and went” albums

i feel like if anything this sort of scrutiny really stems from the larger than life expectations that were placed on carti in terms of album quality, commercial success, and just a lot of other things that ultimately he never would've been able to check off every box
and that's fair and i don't think carti is above criticism or am i tryna make excuses but yeah
weeknd fans really tried selling the idea that this was some insanely niche music that was only made for his core fans when in reality it was just forgettable pop music
Yeah. In my opinion, he didn’t stick the landing at all. It’s really just first world problems & sleep paralysis: the album.
Give Me Mercy is phenomenal tho and deserved a better body of work surrounding it.
This is true. For All The Dogs is probably his most forgotten studio album. Even Honestly, Nevermind gets discussed more still (albeit, negatively)
yeah i wanna expand on this by saying that most of the times, drake albums will have deep cuts that become sleeper hits and rise in streams later after the initial release
i don't think that's happened at all with FATD and it honestly makes sense with the quality of that album
What are valid recent examples of “came and went” albums
jackboys 2 just has to be the example
i always give travis leeway when ppl call him a bundle merchant
(even tho he is but i respect it cause he actually runs it like a business on some pop s***)
and this is because he usually streams as much albums as he sells, but this time it was like a 70/30 ratio of bundles to streams IIRC along with digital deluxe s*** too
also the OG jackboys despite being an EP spawned so many streaming hits and i really can't see that happening with any song on here or to the extent it did on the first one
The most accurate 2025 answer to this question is without a doubt:

and I had high hopes for this. IMO, the only worthwhile song on there is " Da Wizard"
KTT don’t reflect the real world
its not just ktt man, dont be dense all cause you dont like the fans of said artist
I obviously know FATD is successful and probably still charting high but I deadass haven't heard anyone talk/post about the album at all since release. Like it wasn't the "moment" Drake albums tend to be, like I remember Views and CLB dominating social media discussion for at least a few days
Don't even know what the "hits" on there that makes people keep coming back to it could be
it def didnt have the highs of his other albums, i agree but its still getting spins. Rich Baby Daddy is played constantly at every bar/club i attend

Brat longevity is crazy

bro
ngl i thought about you because my frustration with ppl's thoughts of this carti s*** reminded me of the whole brat situation
truth be told, i do like brat from a musical standpoint and i can acknowledge it as definitive pop music/culture highlight of this decade
however, i still feel like charli kinda forgoes some of her personality and uniqueness on that album which was always so apparent on all of her work prior. that's really my biggest issue with that album as it stands today

Nah. I feel it's Thank Me Later.
I swear....niggas act like Take Care is his real debut album.

Nah, Thank Me Later has some of his biggest pop hits and still gets spin to this day. It’s still charting 15 years later
Ngl....Even as a Wayne fan, I still have to remind myself that this nigga dropped Carter 6 this year lol.
I used to be ultra hyped for that album but, after it dropped, it's slowly faded from my consciousness.
Jackboys 2 came and went the fastest of any album in 2025 though imho. But it's a Jackboys project so I won't hold it against Trav too much. Album was easily the worst of the year though. Even my young cousins still in high school called it trash.
