Yes, im aware this thread probably been done 1000 times, i dont care. Anyway my list:
1. Sleater-Kinney
Dig Me Out and The Woods such bad ass albums. Loud, aggressive punk/indie funision that works perfectly.
2. The Drones/Tropical F*** Storm
Australian based punk bands with the same lead singer. End of the world type s*** while infusing blues into it.
3. Silver Jews/Purple Mountains
David Berman's music groups that are sad, indie masterpieces. American Water and The Natural Bridge are essential late 90s records. Meanwhile, Purple Mountains is 2019 AOTY and basically an audio suicide note. RIP KING!
4. Songs:Ohia
The Lioness and The Magnolia Electric Co. feature the best songwriting you'll hear in the indie genre. The production choices are engaging and don't meaner into the indie cliches that haunt the genre. Must listen type of s***. Also RIP Jason Molina.
So yea pick some s***.
wouldn't say they're underrated more like idk anyone who listens to them like that so i'm probably way off with this one but i like some of surfer blood's stuff
Jai Paul outside of internet forums
weirdly kinda overrated on here lol but yeah outside of this place underrated

Blaze Foley
Public Image LTD
Big Black
Bikini Kill
Sixteen Horsepower
Bill Fay
Scott Walker
3rd Bass. As much as I hate to admit it, the rapping on The Cactus Album is better than the rapping on most of the Beastie Boys’ albums. 3rd Bass kind of f***ed themselves, though: beefing with the Beasties was fine but when they went after Vanilla Ice it started to look like a gimmick; they foolishly tried to beef with MC Hammer (ask about him; he’s not named that for no reason); and in the end it seems like they acted too black for white audiences (see: Serch’s high top fade) but looked too white for black audiences (again: the fade). The Cactus Album is kind of dope, though, and even features a young MF DOOM.
Speaking of Serch, they should bring back The (White) Rapper Show and have Your Old Droog host it.
Yeah I'd put the banshees too, but i feel like im always talkign about them lol
Don't get nearly enough love as bands like The Cure etc.
Jai paul and sean leon
Like they are underrated for no reason. Aint no way sean leon should be this slept on

tbf he was signed to XL and was in a FIFA game and got sampled by drake
he just hasnt released music for a decade
Talk Talk
I feel like they are just overlooked. Theyre rated highly for single handedly starting a new sub genre

I'd say the banshees are, especially when it comes to Gothic rock. No one does it better than them
Cure's pop stuff is better though.

I just think Smith is a better writer when it comes to the gothic stuff, p***o is immaculate in that regard. If he didn't have that album tho, I'd agree with ur statement cuz Juju s***s on faith and seventeen seconds
The Cure is literally my favorite band ever tho so this kinda unfair to the banshees lol
