Drake has successfully put himself in that Hov category where in a few years, everyone’s top 2 will be Hov then Drake

Just off the commercial run and people feel like to be “objective” they have to concede it

It’s all propaganda though. Drake and Kendrick are both barely cracking top 50

the idea of “scaring the hoes” and somehow music that women of the nightlife prefer is better because of that lmao
and most importantly Drake is racially ambiguous visually (like Michael Jackson in the 80’s) and doesn’t touch on any social issues while Kendrick unapologetically is gonna talk about black s*** which all plays into both of their appeal with certain demographics lol

Back to scaring the hoes Kendrick sometimes makes music that you can’t just throw on the aux.

Drake is the ultimate safe rapper and on top of that is better than good/great so it’s all of the things that make people love safe inoffensive rappers but he actually relatively nice.

I don’t rank him or Kendrick above one or another but that’s the answer op

drake is more relatable and I f*** with his rapping more, kendrick is too pretentious and has the worst fanbase since eminem

Where we gonna have to disagree but I see why Drake is more accessible to most ppl. Just think his topics are very surface level

You can tell he doesn't actually listen to his music because you're barely scratching the surface here. Drake might be the most versatile rapper in the genre's history. That's a skill Kendrick doesn't have

I prefer Kendrick over Drake but objectively speaking when it comes to GOAT convo drake is higher. More consistent drops, more impactful and influential

Kendrick got the longest charting rap album ever, the most critically acclaimed rap album ever, one of the highest streamed rap albums ever that won a Pulitzer, a soundtrack to one of the biggest Marvel movies ever(Black Panther) and an album that initially sparked the highest grossing rap tour ever.

And he's more skilled as a rapper and has more substance to his music than Drake's.

This "objectivity" you're speaking of is not as set in stone as much as you think it is.

the thing about this tho is that its kinda weird for niggas to be at home playing drake party songs if that’s what you’re implying lol

They would be the deep cuts on both sides

Kenny's the only rapper in history with no misses yet you call him a "half artist?"

Morale is a miss relative to the others

2pac had no misses, his 5 albums are washing Kendrick’s 5 and it’s not close. Ghostface and Scarface have basically no misses in much bigger catalogs too, none of their albums are beneath Morale

I consider Kendrick half an artist at this point because he and drake are both just giving you one extreme. Too much of anything isn’t good. Their predecessors in rap were just much more balanced. In Kendrick’s early career he had balance but he leaned too far in one direction

The Drake and Kendrick comparisons are so odd. They do not make the same music so a fan of either artist clearly has different taste because both artists on are the opposite side of the spectrum.

Drake is clearly focused on hit making and being sonically versatile and being petty and relevant. And that's what makes him dope.

Kendrick is clearly more topically focused with his music and his albums all have some sort of theme and there is much more depth to his music.

How can you compare an artist that covets being at the top of billboard charts and on IG everyday versus an artist who doesn't care about the accolades and is a god damn ghost?

    Because why not?

Hey I’m easily a bigger Kendrick fan but let’s be honest. No one wants to rap like Kendrick, want Kendrick to be on their song for a hit. Also when it comes to charting I can list a whole bunch of records for Drake. Kendrick and Drake have probably the same amount of classic albums but Kendrick shooting a higher percentage cause of his low release rate

And I can argue for and against this. Drake is the most versatile rapper when it comes to jumping on new sounds, new waves and he can switch his rap style like no other. But he ain’t that versatile when it comes to subject matter. His sound is versatile, his content isn’t
