F*** I forgot Sonic Adventure 2. Gotta add that to the honorable mentions. I spent so much time just in the chaos gardens.
Off the top of my head and only picking one game per series in no order:
The Movies
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Call of Duty Black Ops
Elden Ring
Ghost of Tsushima
Fallout 3
Left 4 Dead
Fortnite
NBA 2K
Crash Team Racing
1. Tony Hawk's Underground. I spent more hours on this s*** than anything else. All of the levels are dope, the story is dope (chasing down Escalade-driving d*** dealers in the slums of New Jersey.. in a skateboarding game? v iconic) and the customization at the time was ridiculous.
2. Def Jam: Fight for NY. A hip hop streetfighting game with a solid story, excellent customization, and a surprisingly in-depth fighting system that people are now playing competitively. Redman tornado kicking niggas in the face while wearing overlapped headbands over an untied do-rag was emblematic of that era.
3. GTA IV. Unmatched atmosphere in portraying New York and New Jersey. I just wish there was more of New York State in it. I know it's a hot button criticism of IV, but I actually really like the driving. You really feel like you have to learn every car to drive maximally.
4. SOCOM: US Navy Seals. A third person shooter that is best known for its online component. I remember sneaking in my brother's room and playing this s*** online back in like 2003 and it was the most fun I ever had. So many memories of this game.
5. Red Dead Redemption. The original was groundbreaking graphically and storywise. Online was a motherfucking blast: no blips on the map of unless you fire a shot, so you and your friends could ambush other posses and start enormous battles between crews.
6. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Best stealth game ever and it's not even a debate. There's games coming out today that do not look this good still (well, minus some of the NPC models, lol).
7. Need For Speed: Underground. Doesn't need an explanation. Ridiculous soundtrack and capitalized massively of the early 2000s F&F tuner craze, and did it well.
8. Midnight Club 2. Pretty primitive even for its time, but the ambience, soundtrack, and driving were all quality. I was fuming when I realized Tony Touch - G'z Up was not in regular music rotation.
9. Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. A really underrated derby/racing game. Loved this as a kid.
10. Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec. This game came out in 2001 and still looks good to this day, so you can imagine how cataclysmic it felt fresh off the wobbly, blocky mess that was the PS1. I'm not hot on racing sims but this one was iconic.
Metroid Prime
Smash Bros Melee
RE4
Fortnite
TimeSplitters 2
Budokai Tenkaichi
San Andreas
Little Big Planet 2
Halo: Combat Evolved
Bioshock
Hard to make a list.
