Don’t forget Tribe
he needed s*** like goblin to make 100% tasteful projects later in his career
What makes u say that?
Straight up budget neptunes & DOOM songs off the macbook would’ve been tough imo

it's kind of hard to articulate what I mean
I think he a naturally edgy person. I consider his first two projects him growing out that cacoon
I feel like Eminem helped him just pour all that edgy energy into two projects and cringe at them later as opposed to him being perpetually immature
James Brown birthed a whole lot... from MJ to KPOP and everything before and after... had the world ever seen a multi-talented musician simultaneously perfect being an entertainer like him before? and create whole music genres still prominent to this day? Unlike Elvis, who did more populating than innovating, skewed by social context. Brown had a pure, genuine expression for everything he knew & loved... personified through passionate movement & sound waves
Louis Jordan the real king tho
we wouldn't have funkadelic without james brown... f***ing nuts
P-Funk goated. It’s incredible that Bootsy was once part of James Browns touring band
Drake would not exist without 808s kanye
this is actually something I disagree with however I think 808's biggest influence was on Drake's early production and not his sound or style as an artist. so 40 was more influenced by the production

Man where would trap had led to without Gucci. Tip and jeezy was washed and out of touch by time 2011 hit. Shoutout the real trap OG for holding it down

Oh I mean I get that, he was angsty and rebellious but it could’ve been informed by like tasteful punk music or something instead of embarassing horror core eminem music ukno? This is just hypothetical fantasy world btw his evolution and growth in reality is amazing to witness but it’s a shame such a big part of his catalogue aged so badly cus of those influences
