When Ye knocked the crown off 50’s head in 2007, NYC never recovered.

Sure, but Bodak Yellow is an actual really catchy and well written song that hopped on a flow that was just trending ON TOP of the image.

This is a cool drill song, reserved delivery and pretty unique in its category, but it is not a pop smash hit like that

Yeah i agree with you on that though I’m speaking from a broader regional perspective - a handful of songs from NY that have popped over the last 10-15 years have been unconventional by mainstream standards, and No Clarity is still on trend with the biggest movement in NY right now, whether its as catchy as Bodak / Whoopty / Dior or not

    3 things.

    1. The internet and pirating music.

    2. Cross regional rap collaborations

    3. The demise of radio djs and radio in general.

NY rap is in a better place than its been in a decade.

Number wise Lil Tjay and A Boogie are up there or better than Durk and Yb

NYC drill is to the generation of 14 year olds now what Chicago drill was to my generation. Difference is that NYC rappers dont have the same barriers Chief Keef and them had.

If Max B didn't go to jail, he'd be more popping than French Montana.

Nah, his music was basically 50 cent leftover hooks recorded in subpar quality. He was popping in NY only
