Let's say I buy an item, which one keeps its value a few years later?

hardly any. Its also hard to determine this because usually items will develop more hype after their not available.

I'd probably say any high end designer that sells out quickly and wont resupply (if you're paying retail).

Most things retain some value (e.g. you should be able to sell for decent % of what u paid in 1-2 years) if you are buying second hand or discounted and taking good care of it. Moreso for outerwear then anything tbh

Ah gotcha. So basically, it's pointless to be in the game unless you're actively switching in and out based on the market value at that point in time?

Because I remember Givenchy, Balenciaga Arenas, i thought would retain value.... nope.

Like watching Chrome Hearts, it's just flavor of the month it seems. Where's the value retainers? Supreme used to off of their classics

Nah,I think Chrome Hearts year will always be worth something just off the fact they refuse to sell product online. That also creates paranoia that resellers could be selling fakes and you’d never know the difference. But yeah,I imagine ready-to-wear Chanel,Chrome Hearts,Phoebe Philo Celine to retain its value and then some as far as high fashion.

Streetwear can go either way,it’s all hype dependent.

Yea,they running through that s*** on social media lol. It’s gonna get True Religion bad with the fakes and no ones gonna be able to tell the difference cause of no online presence for the brand

Not selling online definitely has the potential to backfire.

How has no one said supreme yet? There is no box logo from any year that you can buy for retail. And the fact they (used to) never re release anything meant even if the demand went down over time, so did the supply. And any thing could happen to make the demand go back up (famous person wears it then everyone wants it) but Now that the supply is low the price is even higher

Not brands really, but certain runway pieces can

you gotta find the combo of enough people giving a f*** about the brand to where u have people who wanna buy it for more than retail after the fact but also to where the brand wouldn't make a whole lot of them to begin with to capitalize on said demand

like i feel like some of Joe Freshgoods stuff will be sought after bc its super limited but then again maybe the average person or not enough average people give a f*** his stuff for it to be valuable in the future no matter how many are out there
