When you attend an underground conscious hip hop show you start to see a trend.

I have seen NoName, Rapsody, Pre S80 Kendrick, Joey Badass, etc and the main demographic that shows up are white men then black men.

Why is there a narrative that the reason conscious rappers aren't mainstream it's becsuse of men don't support them enough when women don't support their conscious sisters even as much as men do.

    Serious question.

  • dont think theres enough women on ktt to defend themselves here

"the reason conscious rappers aren't mainstream it's because of men don't support them enough " who tf is saying this some of you just craft narratives out of thin air

  • I’ve never seen a narrative saying conscious rap isn’t big because men don’t support

Everyone knows nearly every genre of music is mostly reliant on the support of women in order for it to reach the big leagues

    Mexicans probably

  • Apr 5, 2021

Its mainly white niggas and girls that support artists the most, cant lie tbh

NoName.literally complained about this before. It's a valid question. She makes music for black people and about black people but most of her fans are white men. Why is that?

Bro look at the demographics of the US:

    Growing Diversity in America

    White: 60.1% (Non-Hispanic) Hispanic: 18.5% Black: 12.2% Asian: 5.6%

Of course white people are going to be the majority because they are the biggest population...

This isn't true. I went to a SIR concert 1000 ppl and the majority of ppl in there were black women. Underground artist isn't about demographic as much as interest in actual artist and what they are saying

    Best photoshop ever lol

  • Apr 5, 2021

80% of hip hop consumers in general are white

needless to say, conscious rap doesn't have a lower percentage

    No s***

You just answered your own question.

The biggest acts of mainstream are obviously going to have a majority of white fans because it's literally the biggest genre in the world at the moment. Couple that to the pop culture around it and all that TikTok teeny bopper s*** OF COURSE it's gonna be predominately white fans

The youth is literally the dominating demographic when it comes to rap, why do you think those festivals are all white teenagers wearing jerseys and smoking juuls
