Its funny how much hate Drake got for singing simp s*** when he first came out and now you got hood niggas doing the exact same s*** and no one bats an eye. Drake's influence is understated if anything

OP’s profile is based on a man that is allowed to exist because of Drake and he made this thread I’m HOOTIN

in what way is post malone allowed to exist because of drake?

y'all make me laugh with these "x rapper wouldn't exist without y rapper" bullshit

  • I agree OP. The only major influence I see in this generation is from Keef, Kanye, future, wayne, and odd future. If anything, Drake has only set a high bar for mainstream success and charting numbers and helped make hip hop more accepted in the mainstream but sonically and musically he hasnt influenced alot.

He influenced Deez nutz on your chin

  • Nov 18, 2019

That's different tho. Ja Rule wasnt rlly a singer on the same level and he didnt present himself the same way drake did.

nobody heard about this song and it's just a feature..
the songs i posted dropped before drake decided to make dancehall songs on his own

"Nobody heard about this song" Do you know how big OVO Sound Radio was that 2015? Even before that Drake has experimented with and remixed dance music not just dancehall. Unstoppable from So Far Gone (Same producer as that Major Lazer song, Diplo), Little Bit with Lykke Li, Take Care with Rihanna produced by Jamie XX. Hold On We're Going Home & Feel No Ways, Preach with PND, More Life he fully embraced it and etc. To think that he wouldnt eventually get into dancehall is a reach. And its pretty arguable that either he or Bieber popularized it in the US when it comes to 2015 and beyond

Akon was an R&B nigga who occasionally rapped, not quite the same as Drake

    OP: Akon birthed Drake

not sure what point you are trying to make here dancehall was still popular before drake had a dancehall song that charted so he didn't start the wave that appeared out of nowhere in 2015-2016

So what you're saying is people were listening to Akon for bars?

You're saying that Drake "hopped on the wave" in 2016 but actually he's been making similar music before that

So many dudes sound like Drake now, i don't know where to start. It might not be apparent all the time but Drake's influence is massive dawg

I don’t get this post.. don’t most kids get into rap during middle school?

maybe it was diff for my gen. Middle school was like 16 years ago for me.

anyone saying they was listening to rap in elementary school.. so what? most likely just means you prolly had parents or older siblings playing rap around you.
y’all could barely put together complete sentences in elementary let alone understand half the s*** these dudes were rapping about so who cares.
