I work at a plasma center and there’s always some crazy ass s*** that goes on atleast once or twice a week. Trying to move up and work in the lab for that experience and move to some place else.

Eh ill just ask here lol.
How did you get your job? Like what qualifications/portfolio do you need?
Whats day to day work like? Do you get to work from home?
I used my portfolio that I accrued from my first couple years of work out of college, and I think this is key for a lot of people who want to get into marketing writing. If the opportunities in copywriting aren’t there out of the gate, save everything you write from each job you work in— I went from industrial sales to copywriting doing this because I could back it up. I saved marketing emails, press releases, flyers, blogs, and anything else I made. I also worked as a journalist in college, so that was in my resume too.
The interview process was three stages long, and I just essentially had to prove that I could work quickly and creatively.
Day to day work—I do a lot. I have ten active accounts for pretty big clients that I manage all content for, so I have to closely stay in touch with our design team and the client so that anything that needs to get made (videos, website copy, emails, etc) gets made ASAP. I also have to edit content for everyone else on my accounts, so being super strong and quick with proofreading is key. If you wanna get chewed out, have a tiny grammar mistake from anything that goes out and watch hell’s gates open.
I do work remote for a full week every other week, which is super nice. Can’t say that happens for every employer, but they’re super flexible here (but that goes in hand with having to balance so much work).
I don’t know what it’s like to work in a non-agency setting, but I’ve heard that if you’re looking for something slower where you can really focus, it’s better to be in-house. I love the challenge tho, it’s exploded my portfolio in just six months.
@KAYTRANADA forgot to quote you but^

This company made it hard for junkies junkies to donate tbh. It’s really only blue collar folk and the average hood folk that come in

Thank man, this is good stuff. Managing ten accounts is crazy, but I'm assuming that's inherent to working for an agency instead of being in house. The work your describing is similar to what I do now in terms of liasoning between different artists and editors. So this is definitely something I can do well.
I just really need to work on my portfolio. It's kinda difficult because you need to get hired in an entry level position and then gain experience/portfolio from that. But often they want you to have experience already, even for an entry level position. Doesn't make sense lol.

Yeah, that first job was the hardest for me to get. I sent probably 100 resumes. I think the way to go is to have the mindset that you can flip your experience at any job as a leaping pad to your next venture, so dont trip if a job seems like it sucks on the surface.
Love it, work remote and it’s kinda fun

Paw Patrol, best advice I could give is to create a portfolio and find forums or anything you can for feedback. Don’t give up after 1 yr, it took me 7 years after doing school and all that to land a decent gig
