individualism being valued in major democracies over a more homogenized people. it's hard to be more unified in a country like america when there is so much diversity and a history built on the blood of african descendants of slavery.

social media is a good tool for communicating ideas and forming relationships, but these platforms also facilitate a competition between users to see who can generate the most clicks and attention. that "keeping up w/ the jones" type of content usually gets picked up by users and the algorithm much faster.
