Yea, I listen to a pretty wide range of music and I’ve been blown away by all of it. I also use them for gaming and work where I spend a lot of time talking on the phone.
Either option you are looking at are a great choice, really. That said, after watching like 50 reviews on YouTube before purchasing, many people preferred the Sony slightly over the Air Pods Max and for $100 less with an awesome equalizer app, I’d recommend the XM5 over anything. Again, you won’t go wrong or regret either choice.
Can share my EQ settings w you if you end up getting them lmk
Wats ur settings? Mine just came in

-Drop the 2.5k by one notch if you find the mids too high, mainly snares.
-Drop clear bass by one if the bass is too much. Keeping the bass stock on EQ and Clear Bass at 3 was perfect for me, as the XM5 are already a little bass heavy. Add a notch or two to 400 if you feel the bass is too light.
These settings go crazy for me. Looked at a bunch of diff settings and tuned here and there to what sounded best. LMK what you think after listening stock, then with these settings.
Thinking of copping a pair of HD6XX for home. Heard they're solid sound quality but are super comfy
They’re super solid, but they’re not a super “fun” headphone imo. They’re a classic, and kind of an essential for a lot of collections, but as someone who listens to a lot of hip-hop, they can’t be my primary headphone. Theyre great for other genres and a neutralish sound though.

Yeah, I'm personally not a massive audiophile, I just want something consistently decent across the board (rock, metal, jazz, indie, hip-hop). Unless other people have rec's.
I heard the HD6XX aren't very good for video games but it'll definitely be a step up from my current Steelseries gaming headset.

i would imagine the biggest issue with HD6XX for gaming is the imaging. one thing I and others have noticed that the imaging on them is subpar, so thats not ideal for games where you need to hear where noises are coming from.
I could be wrong though. do some research and see what others are saying. maybe theyre great for gaming
Moved from the HD 660S to the Focal Clear. Such an improvement on all fronts.

Fidelio x2
Recently bought the Beyerdynamic 770 Pro 80 Ohms. Absolutely love them. Even the bass is great in these for a studio headphone.
These were great, but sold them and bought the AirPods Max back in December.
The AirPods Max are more convenient because of the wireless.
Best over ear noise canceling headphones?
AirPods max and Sony xm5 the gold standard from what ive heard
