One of the best features you can get on head/earphones.
are the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 good just for chilling and listening to music ?

I've had them for like 3 years now and they're great to me sound wise and everything

They're okay but at this point you're better off going with the AKG k371's. Same price but better comfort and sound. In fact I find the audio technica's to be overrated
HD-600 for the desktop
Momentum 2's for trips
Powerbeats Pros for the gym/calls
Also got the Jaybird x2 for the gym
Airpods went through the washing machine, that's when I got the powerbeats. I miss the compact case. PBP case too bulky to be in your pocket tbh.
copped the airpods pro for casual listening and beyer 770 250 for production and studio stuff
I've been hearing a lot of people saying m40x over m50x lately
I also heard that but I've never compared. I hear you gotta change the pads on em though
M50xs (modded to replace cable), thinking about getting the DT770s
bro 1990's. skip the 770's
these things are end game for me. It's a SERIOUS upgrade
I'm reading up on them now if they're as good as the reviews say then I need these rn!

they're better than the reviews say. I've read and watched every review that exists and I still had my expectations exceeded.

I'm seeing a lot of people agree the 1990s are bright, 5-8.5khz spike, not a flat response in the highs :/ that'd be a deal breaker for me, i'ma have to check out some graphs. I'm also looking at the hd600s
I'm reading some folks over at audiosciencereview say that the 1990s should use a passive filtler or EQ to correct those highs
Edit:
"The best way to get rid of the treble peak is to use a passive in-line filter. This filter lowers the treble peak to ‘normal’ levels and leaves the rest of the sound as it is.
Below the response of the DT1990 with A***ytical pads with and without the filter.
The 7dB reduction is quite audible and removes the sharpness. The headphone remains detailed, just not ‘sharp/piercing’ any more. Something I would like to point out is that the filter does NOT change the brightness/clarity at all. It doesn’t become a warm and soft headphone. For this you need EQ. ONLY the sharpness/sibiliance is removed.
When you can not make this filter yourself or don’t know someone that can do this for you a built filter can be ordered. "
