The notion an album cant be influential because no1 else can make an album like that is the definition of stannery and stupidity

i dont think it has influenced someone musically but i think lot people look at it has magnum opus of his career. I feel a lot of creatives in any genre look at it and try capture magic of MBDTF

Unless you're Jay Z, Drake or Kendrick, you don't have the budget to make MBDTF influenced music.

It's like asking what influence did Lawrence of Arabia have on film.

its influence was on the medium of what music and hiphop was able to be in the eyes of the public far more than the specifics of the sound

It forced artists to care about the entire art direciton of their projects (music videos, album cover, musicality, live performances)

That whole era marks a shift in what fans care about

The same way Kanye made hip hop fans not care about street cred with his first three albums

the next three (808s MBDTF Yeezus) expanded the tastes of every hip hop fan

Quality level of rap in 2009 and 2011 went way higher

The climate of detail and sound design shifted heavy
