He was flat broke and carried that baggage into discussion. I should have known betterWhen we were discussing, he randomly said my friend was a token black friend. For no reason. This pushed me into defense mode, because I find it offensive that I would tokenize a dear friend for my own political standing.

I hate this too. I never throw the first stone. I treat people with respect, and if they return me disrespect, I go nuts and do not let it go. You have to throw hands with them. If somebody disrespects you after showing them respect, you have to grind them all the way down to show them it is not acceptable. And when they apologise, you keep going.
