I see alotta people claiming his Oscar sweep tonight was a correction for not winning for Florida Project. So what’s his best movie?
@proper I already know your pick
@proper I already know your pick
ur so real
no prince of broadway or take out or starlet in op smh all better than tangerine imo
maybe i need to rewatch tangerine tho
def need to rewatch the baker filmography this year
Anora
Florida Project
Red Rocket
Prince of Broadway
Take Out
Florida Project for me, easily, I haven’t see red rocket tho
Why would you say that’s the best for you? The exploration of childhood and broken parents?
anora is great the florida project and red rocket are complete trash to me. havent seen the others
My favorite is Tangerine but I don't think it's his "best" in terms of pure filmmaking and thematic writing, which is probably Florida Project
Florida project
Anora > tangerine > florida project > red rocket
Haven't seen anything pre-2015 by him but I gravitate towards Tangerine the most, partially cause the iphone visuals are still such a singular and striking choice in his filmography but i've got a personal bias cause the digital mid-2010s instagram filter makes me nostalgic
anora is great the florida project and red rocket are complete trash to me. havent seen the others
Florida project
probably Florida Project. Anora is my least fav tbh
You prefer the more loose structure/ slice of life?
Florida project
Starlett
red rocket
takeout
Tangerine
Prince of Broadway
anora
people sleeping on Starlett, one of his best
I think Anora tbh. Felt like such a level up by every metric and also introduced new elements that I never knew he had in his repertoire

I just adore that film leaning on how resilient a child’s optimism can be, if you dont yank their innocence from them (which it most likely is at the end) , even in a seedy, tragic environment rather than the grown up fast route, it’s incredibly nostalgic too, makes you think of your childhood friends who might have just vanished one day or been displaced
