Best game story of all time? That’s a pretty bold claim.

I actually downloaded the NDC while back when it was free on the PS store cause I had never played them and figured I'd go ahead and cop while they were free.

Fast forward to last month when I finally decided to check em out. I took a break from it but l'm halfway through Pt 3 so far.

Parts 1 and 2 were just fine to me. Definitely not bad by any means, I'd just call them solid games. After years of hearing people talk about the series I felt underwhelmed. I love Naughty Dog, but I wasn't getting "one of the best game series of the generation" vibes from the first 2 installments.

They're for sure better than a lot of other AAA titles, because they actually deliver a AAA experience (unlike other things in its genre like Assassin's Creed or Squenix' Tomb Raider reboot). But I never felt anything close to a "Combat Evolved/Bioshock 1" moment in the first two narratives. There wasn't anything that left a huge impression on me I guess.

I'd probably even say that any moments of greatness for me are much more likely to come from the the actual gameplay over the story or setpieces of the first two games. Everything felt so smooth (except for the gunplay in both, but it's especially poor in part 1 haha).

Finally playing this series and feeling unsatisfied so far has made me worry that The Last of Us might end up being the same way for me... But I've seen several story sequences from that game and it looks like a big upgrade from what I've seen in Uncharted so far.

FFVII OG (my favorite video game story of all time) has definitely made me shed some tears.

If it’s not even emotionally moving enough to the point where you shed a tear or two, you really think it can be a contender for the greatest video game story of all time?

I just have a hard time believing that anything from Rockstar games can move me at all but I’m always open to them changing their ways.

I’ve just finished Last Of Us Remastered a few days ago for the first time!

Definitely up there with the best I’ve played on PS4!

I need suggestions as well, played Uncharted 4 and TLOU. Never played God of War tbh 😬
