Well we're in a new decade so let's look back on the past one. We talk a lot about classic albums but I'm curious as to what the consensus on last decade's classics is. Not really what albums you consider the best of that era but which ones are indisputable, influential, culturally important classics

    IMO:

    Objective Classics:
    My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
    Yeezus
    Good Kid, M.A.A.D City
    To Pimp A Butterfly
    Finally Rich
    Watch the Throne

Close but not quite there yet:
    Flockaveli
    Monster
    Take Care
    Rodeo
    The Money Store
    The Life of Pablo
    XXX
    Pinata

curious as to ktt's opinions. again this isnt really representative of my personal taste, just the albums from last decade that i consider to really be the most visible, high points of the genre

i would say money store because it set industrial rap on fire

  • For it to be objective everyone would have to agree and you would be surprised by how many different opinions people have even about those albums you listed. Objective would also need some criteria to go by which is hard to compile a list of and judge fairly because everyone is biased in art. Some would say Indicud, TPAB or Tetsuo & Youth are objective classics but you might disagree because they had no influence on other artists sounds. Take Care and Finally Rich had strong influence and are culturally important for the genre but the quality isn't indisputable to some. Even you gave a vague description for objectively classic that either hundreds of albums or none could fit depending on who you ask.

I love Yeezus but I would argue that The Money Store, Piñata and Take Care are actual classics instead of that album and Finally Rich tbh

Yeezus and Finally Rich are cult classics
