    2 out of 3.
And that’s only cause Nicki definitely comes off as a “it’s my way or no way” type lol

    drake iffy

But even on mbdtf when there was that whole exposé on the writing process, he would have verses and ask his peers what they thought of em lol

    that’s called making music though

    Every rapper has help/assistance.

I’m sure when he was with black hippy/tde they all helped each other out (e.g. Ab-Soul’s the one that came up with hiipower as a concept.)

It’s already documented how much he helped out with trash talk ( :word: )

Yall gotta stop downplaying dudes who write man I hate this s*** it's like assuming every athlete does steroids it's f***ed up and disrespectful to people's craft who spend they entire lives avoiding that lane.

If an artist isn't exposed don't put that on them its lame as hell

well yea no one’s denying that. isn’t thread about ghost writers though?

not being transparent and making people believe u do everything yourself is the same thing. quenting was in the thank you notes for iyrtitl but is still considered a ghostwriter cause drake wasnt telling the world someone was helping with flows and lines

That’s collaboration. That’s not the same as literally getting verses or bits of verses from other niggas and then claiming you wrote everything yourself

Eh in all fairness Drake never really did that though pre quentin days.

AS A MATTER OF FACT (and @thankmelater you know I’m right) the HUGE decline in writing on Views and Scorpion you can most definitely attribute it to him trying to “prove his haters wrong” and write all that s*** himself.

Quentin would never say “chaining tatum”

Just thinking about how much work it prolly takes alot of artist to go multiple years writing they own stuff and succeeding just for people to say "Every rapper gets help" is gross.

    Respect people's craft

DOOM had writers in his late stage, one of the leak sellers had an unreleased DOOM song and a reference by some rapper named Kurious.

Niggas that dont do music not understanding what “getting help” means lmfao.

There’s a reason Kanye has so many writing credits and it’s not as simple as “oh, he dont write”

Literally if you help out with a cadence or a flow for a rapper, you technically could get credited for that.

That is in essence helping out a rapper.

Ye having tons of writing credits AND ghost writers is crazy. Pardi wasn't even credited for Violent Crimes till he got outted lol

i mean do you need to make a big statement about who helped on what songs? if they credited that should be enough tbh.

How is what im saying downplaying people who write.

You do know asking for assistance on how to flow words could get you writing credits.

Like, that’s literally what it can be like collaborating in a room with other people while you’re writing.

?? Quentin was always in the credits for each song as a writer. only one he wasn’t was RICO, and that stemmed from a miscommunication.

if people saw someone credited as a writer & they weren’t also credited as a producer, A&R (occasionally happens, likely just the A&R giving direction on a song), or a sample, that’s on them for thinking anything else

Exactly. Alright was an anthem because of the beat and hook. Which were 100% finished by Pharrell and another writer before Kendrick ever heard the song. So he does get help even if its not for verses

    Pharrell literally on the hook
