All he raps about is p****, money, and weed
Wayne did the same thing but he had a thousand flows he could use
Nah Wayne had deeper songs too
Some rappers just want to get big enough so they can pursue other things. He probably makes more money with his weed brand than music at this point.
Doesn’t have the superstar image/persona
Keep in mind he was pretty huge got a bit but not on the level of Drake our Trab
lack of subject matter and inconsistent album quality

did Weeknd?
Having the same subject matter wasn’t the issue, it was weed being the subject matter that doomed him
dropped that wack album ONIFC when it was hyped to be a classic
wiz was the rapper everyone listened to back in school so he had potential, also had good mixtapes, but fumbled when making good albums
Rap is mainly about marketing
If he chose the artsy route he would've been perceived better
Black and Yellow still bigger than any Travis song tbf
Sicko Mode and Goosebumps out now
Well, his singles are good but his albums as a whole end up not too good
I remember that he wasted a great Pharrell and Thundercat collab by putting it as a throwaway on a long ass tape lol
In terms of commercial success he understood what the masses wanted but not artistically which sadly prevented him from being taken seriously and having a long lasting run
Wiz is a pioneer for the work he laid down on being one of the first true internet/blog type rappers and has classic mixtapes and songs to his name. That being said once he really started blowing up he really phoned it in and didn’t evolve and just became a caricature of himself and tried to become the cool weed rapper. I think history will favor him well and will end up being the snoop dogg of my generation for the younger gens to view as the cool unc that smokes or whatever
Huh???
what? B&Y went #1 when it was actually hard to go #1 lol it was the official Super Bowl song and everything cause the Steelers made it lol

I feel like he's kinda like Ciara in that he gets hit singles, but fails to build hype around his albums (that last longer than the first day)
Sicko Mode and Goosebumps out now
B&Y went #1. Was much bigger than either of those songs
