It seems very contrived to name a straight five year streak that an entire genre of music was underperforming.
17
A collection of nightmares, thoughts, and real life situations I've lived
17 is the number tattooed on the right side of my head
My own personal number
Soon to be explained in future interviews or instances
By listening to this album, you are literally
And I cannot stress this enough
Literally
Entering my mind
And if you are not willing to accept my emotion
And hear my words fully
Do not listen
I do not value your money
I value your acceptance and loyalty
Here is my pain and thoughts put into words
I put my all into this
In the hopes that it will help cure
Or at least numb your depression
I love you
Thank you for listening
Enjoy

Don't necessarily need to be 5 years of underperforming to be the worst 5 year period
09-15 easily
Industry was trying to make a new Ye every week
This is a really bad take lol. Some of the best rappers came out during that time bro what?
Some of the best albums are in 2015 as well

Rock music from 2000 to 2010 was f***ing terrible
Last five years easily.
-No real promising new guard to lead the way into the new era
-Ye fell off.
-Few truly timeless hits or club bangers that can be enjoyed for generations.
-Very few truly classic albums in the mainstream (underground/indie scene is dope though)
-Production is less innovative and more repetitious

Dead ass was like another golden era. Bro is just trolling

Hell nah. Way too much classic music in this era. The lows were low but the highs are great. We got prime Wayne, peak Kanye, MOTM, SFG, prime TI/Jeezy, and prime Game out of this era.
This too lowkey but at the same time 2009 was pretty cool
its funny because its basically the foundation of Ye's career
but the ringtone and early autotune era was so s***
along with the G-Unit copycats

I would say the last 5 years however the underground scene saw a lot of new light with dudes like Mach, Griselda, Elhzi dropping some heat, 38 Spesh, even Royce kind of getting in his bag again.
Just depends on what you mean. Mainstream, yeah pretty underwhelming outside of a few albums here and there. We getting some people starting to find their sound though.
Rap tryna transition outta the trap wave, we like almost out of it. I think it’s gonna turn a corner and we gonna have something new and crazy in a couple years that is gonna dominate this next decade.
