If the music is good it really doesn't matter.
it is though
You’re comparing an artwork collector curating a gallery to someone having songs written for them.

Museum curators aren’t presenting the paintings as their own. Their name isn’t on the paintings.

neither are singers who have given credit to the song writer.
if the music is good then the music is good
do whatever it takes to get from point a to point b
if having writers helps then do it if thats an option
does it really matter if an artist wrote all their s***, played the instruments, mix and mastered their work? not really. its cool and awesome if you can do that, but do you want a star sticker for it?? most ppl dont care...
it's ok. but recording great songs and lyrics made by 6 people doesn't make you a genius.
The music itself and a lot of the time the artist can perform the song a lot better than the writer.
During the 60s it was seen the other way around -- people only started writing their own songs cause it gave them & labels more money. Brian Jones wanting to stay an 'authentic' R&B cover band caused The Rolling Stones heavy friction for this very reason.
There's personality in an interpretation. Many of the classical pianists we love didn't write anything either; new interpretations of Mozart release every second.
Writing being some sort of poetry authenticity thing didn't start till Dylan/Morrison but their catalogs are filled with covers still

i know what you mean though. dylan covering a folk song aint the same as vapid lying. but singing an already written song has its challenges too
i remember blixa bargeld saying how he was blown away by kylie minogue's professionalism in her handling of the reference track for 'where the wild roses grow', and that dude's from the nico tree of extreme. there's merit in it sometimes! gotta take it case by case
