Not only that but preserved cultures, schools that incorporate their cultures into the curriculum, their language all over their cities, and so on.

Funny enough post 9/11 China convinced the US that Uyghurs were waging Jihad and send 22 Chinese
nationals of Uighur ethnicity to Guantanamo Bay. They were released 12 years later because they never found any evidence to radical islamism and anti-west ideology. And after they were released none of them wanted to turn back to China because they knew Uyghurs who want to speak againt them are opressed and would get killed there.
