If there’s even a difference at all. Cus is seems arbitrary sometimes but in some cases deliberate.
Do you personally even care about it?
“With” means it’s a duet, implies both artists are equally contributing and it belongs to both of them, both are top billing or coheadliners
“Featuring” means it’s the main artist’s song with an appearance from another

This is what I always thought too.
yeah feature sounds like somebody just phoned something in and was really in the studio working together with the main artist on the song.
thats just what I think of.

Party of duets that don’t have with.
Plenty of features that aren’t listed.
It’s a personal decision that doesn’t really distinguish one from the other.

Finding exceptions to the rule doesn’t mean the rule isn’t generally true
It is not an arbitrary personal decision about wording, if anything there are business implications

I’ve noticed this too. Prolly some BS to account for streaming numbers both artists
I don’t think it’s an “artistic” choice
Does it effect how artists get paid like it does in movies?
Either that or artists just put in the contract that they want to be a co lead instead of a feature, it changes how it looks on streaming

Some of it has to do with streaming and contracts I’m sure but what I said is the general difference in meaning
With implies that it’s more of a joint song rather than a cameo appearance. Whether you agree with that categorization is case by case and has a business element to it but that’s what it means, and that’s why artists would rather be credited as with
I assume “with” means you get more royalties/credit for streams than a feature too but not sure on that

Feat. Is for backing vocals in this case maybe

it's only like this on spotify
on apple music for pain 1993, it says feat.
“With” is a spotify thing they rarely put that on Apple music
Yes i think with is the same as feat
