Because they were basically they had HITS after HITS after HITS at their peak and sold crazy and nobody ever saw a musical of that popularity, they were also a cultural moment because of the hippy wave that happened in the late sixties.

Listened to a few on there songs it does nothing for me , just sounds generic

Go read how innovative they along with George Martin were with recording and production techniques. Also they were one of the bands to help establish Pop and Rock as legitimate forms of art and be taken more seriously

they were shoved down everyones throat and hyped up as the best band of all time for years by white journalists so they're untouchable now but dont let that fool you they are not that good
