Social pressure vs convenience. Two different things. Choosing one for the other can be a hard decision depending on the situation and what you value the most.
I won’t speak on your particular situation because I don’t know you, but generally I find people who tend to go against what society expects them to do, to be (generally) more selfish than the ones who just follow the rules.
I myself fall into the selfish category in sooo many things and even considered for a long time being single for the rest of my life, with no kids and no home just constantly traveling around the world.

I’m indifferent about it.. some days I’m glad to be alive and able to exp all the things life has to offer.. and some days I just wonder wtf my parents were thinking bringing me into this world just so I could work a regular job just to pay rent and bills
White mexican born in the us but raised in Mexico. I had a lot of privileges when growing up and still have. But I’m also kind of a weirdo who does fit in but in a weird way.
I think about what my parents where thinking when having me all the time. I was born because my father cheated on his wife, but apparently I was planned somehow. Who the f*** knows. I’m still glad i was born and yeah probably that has a lot to do with my privilege.
If you want to have a kid but can’t afford to, I would say that’s irresponsible, but not necessarily selfish.

Having kids is literally the most natural thing in nature .. It’s the logical thing to do at some point in life .. Are we supposed to have a certain opinion on “having kids”?
