Orchestral rap, and not the ones with a classical sample with some drums on it. But like the s*** jay was doing on better in tune
You heard Little Simz album that came out this year? Lot of orchestral instrumentation
some combination of adult contemporary over trap beats, like ballads that have more of a slower build to its peak
A good expansion for this thread would be to say a genre you desire and people replying with songs/albums that coincide with it

I think that goes against the elements of trap tho
Im on it
are you talking about songs like Fade?
Hmm I guess I was more so thinking Down on my Luck or I know there’s gonna be good times by Jaime XX and thug
like imagine carti spazzing over a repetitive or progressive house beat with some nasty drums
You heard Little Simz album that came out this year? Lot of orchestral instrumentation
Yeah, one of my favorite from the year
Trap drums over jazz samples
I was going to say trap dums over boom bap samples
@disneyfrozen You might like A.R. Kane, they are touted as the first shoegaze group and had some soul undertones.
I wish there were more post-punk and hip hop mixtures, there were a few acts in NY with the no wave scene, but it's like really outdated disco rap mixed with dissonant post punk guitars and it doesn't really sound good. Lil Peep flipped a few post-punk guitars on his eps before he died and it sounded pretty cool.
