Holy s*** is CLB a disappointment. I can't believe that this is the album we have been waiting 2-3 years for man. This was Drake's last chance. He can't make another classic, cohesive album to save his life. So many problems with this album.

    • His rapping is still has such a lack of energy. I want to like the rap records but this nigga rapping like he a f***ing novice with no energy and nervous or some s***.
    • He can't sing anymore. Always relying on autotune and s***. It's disgusting.
    • So much filler. There's about 6-8 songs that didn't need to be on here. Dude has a sickness.
    • How the f*** do you waste ANOTHER JAY-Z VERSE. Why the f*** would you put Jay-Z on Need me / Lotta 42 and he actually took out the f***ing outro?? Nah dawg Drake is a demon he washed.
    • Yebba just has a track by herself. I hate records like this on his albums. I was so excited about a Drake X Yebba song but he ain't appear on it at all.... man.....
    • Like I thought the Future and Young Thug record and all the songs with the usual suspects are ass. Man....
    • Where the f*** is the Drake that actually cared man? That put his soul in his raps?? That was actually elaborate with his song structures and song transitions and charismatic with his delivery???

    Some pros about the album:

    • The Cudi record isn't as good as I thought it would be but it's still pretty nice.
    • Same as the Ross and Wayne record. They got some bars off I guess...
    • 7AM in Bridle Path >>>>>> F***ING LOVE THIS TYPE OF DRAKE.
    • Intro and Outro were cool too... still lack of any amount of energy or effort or care but still they were cool..

Idk man... I thought that this would be the one. I'ma still always be a fan and listen to his music of course but everytime he says something he's the best or the GOAT or "shout out to Hov because it's him then me" I'ma laugh and then put on some Kendrick f*** outta here nigga.

i bet your fav album is IYRTITL

    First listen thoughts and reactions…

    Champange Poetry
It is just cool, but this sounds more like an outro than an intro to me. Some personal stuff in there. Might need more listens to fully grasp all that he is talking about. I like the second part of the song and the last verse the most. The song drags on for a bit though. Maybe I just wanted more energy.

    Papi´s Home
This more sounds like an intro… but feels half-finished. Could have gone for a second verse here. I like it, without being amazed.

    Girls Wants Girls
This feels like a throwback Drake song to me, especially in the way he is singing. I like this song.

    In The Bible
Not bad, but not super-amazing either on first listen. Giveon saves it for me at the end, I am a big fan of his.

It is a slow start for me though so far.

    Love All
Love the beat and the song is good. It is Drake and Jay.

    Fair Trade
This is a bit more fast-paced and I like the hook. Some of the others before this were a bit long, I thought. La Flaaame. Good use of CDW. I like her.

    Way 2 Sexy
Either you love it or hate it. I will probably have to be outside and intoxicated. I can see and hear this one being played at Magic City, it will serve its purpose.

    TSU
Drake really loves his child. He mentions him a lot so far. The song was just cool to me… but then the beat-switch came and I enjoyed this song a lot more. That was great.

The first half of the album is still going a bit slow for me though I must say.

    N 2 Deep
Not really a fan of part 1. They should have made a whole song out of part 2 instead. Might be my least favorite tbh.

    Pipe Down
Best song so far! This is great and I am getting a nostalgic vibe. Love this one. He is fed up! And the way he sings “Tried to run it back a hundred times'' in the beginning of the second verse reminds me of Good Ones go “I swear I said it about a hundred times”.

    Yebba´s Heartbreak
I will definitely have to go and listen to some of Yebbas music. I will admit I was not that up on her until now. A very dope interlude type of song.

As I am basically at the half-way point… there have been some hits and misses for me. Might need a few more listens to a few of the songs. I might have thought that the album and some songs would be a bit more up-tempo though.

    No Friends In The Industry
Eh. Not my favorite Drake song.

    Knife Talk
Same as the previous one for me.

    7am On Bride Path
He never misses on these songs. Drake at his best. Bars and so many lines to go through. Amazing.

    Race My Mind
Like this one a lot. Songs from him that transition from R&B Drake going into rapping Drake are some of his best songs for me. Exactly like this one. A great album cut.

    Fountains
It is good even though I might have gone in with higher expectations for this one. I will for sure listen to it again.

    Get Along Better
This is everything I wanted it to be from Drake and Ty. I had to run this one back a second time. This is the toxic R&B I wanted. Will be on repeat.

    You Only Live Twice
Can't miss with Drake, Ross and Wayne on a track. Great to hear Wayne like this.

    IMY2
Not mad at this one at all on first listen. Could be a sleeper.

    Fucking Fans
An album cut that might grow on me.

    The Remorse
Cool outro. Gotta listen to it more to take in all what he is rapping about.

I will definitely need more listens to this album. Thought he would have more vibes and catchy songs tbh. I might have wanted some more timeless music also. Feels like more of a timestamp of where he is at in life, and that is cool. A father who loves his kid and who is a very successful man that has to deal with everything that goes with it. Business and personal life. He might also be a bit lost, like we all are in a way. Just tryna figure out how to live his life. What's the next step?

If you cared to read, keep enjoying the album like I will.

I bet you like Drake’s best album is a weird angle

  • Sep 3, 2021

Really enjoyed most of it. Only 4-5 tracks i would consider rather forgettable/skipable but also nothing straight up unlistenable.

Another nitpick i have is that some of the drums on the album sound a bit too unispired imo

Overall I'm feeling 7.5 or 8/10 rn but it's too soon for that. I'll let the music sit with me a couple of days

    AGoodBoyo

Literally my exact thoughts. I feel like this is the reaction of any fan that’s been around since 09. Or at least since like 2013.

The soul and the care was the best part of his music. Lots of sampling here but it’s a one trick pony and it’s gotten old.

This time around he should have kept the throwaways for the album instead of dropping sh2 and DLDT. At least he had some polished records there.

Yep. Been a fan since ‘09 and this s*** is disappointing. The hunger isn’t there. Too much filler. Views and More Life are more cohesive bodies of work. There’s only 4-5 songs on this album that I’d put on rotation, but they aren’t bangers like Controlla

    HURRY UP K DOG

This dude is the most pretentious Drake "fan" I see post on here. We get it bro you want bars only.

The fact that you think that means ya don't get it. I was literally just questioning where the good R&B and Pop joints were at.

Dope review. Similar to how I feel tbh, I liked the album on first listen and was satisfied, especially by the production. I avtually prefered it to Scorpion first listen. I’m sure it’ll grow on me even more.

Yeah pretty much. Now I know why he ain't release a single before the album. Even he knew he ain't got no monster hits on CLB. I really didn't want Laugh Now Cry Later to be on the album because I didn't like what it meant for the direction of the album.

But now that I see the unfortunately way the album is I honest would have liked it to be on it. Might as well since he didn't make a song that will out do it on the charts. I could be wrong but I really don't think any of the songs will be bigger than LNCL.

I think this album will do amazing on rap radio though, so maybe that's the intent.

  • Best album since NWTS, I said it. Don't understand all your hate. Only skippable song for me was In The Bible.

  • Sep 4, 2021

N 2 Deep has definitely grown on me

  • Sep 4, 2021

Sounding f***ing incredible to me so far. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to listen to it all but got to Fountains.

You guys were right Not Around was worth the wait. Good god almighty .

So far I am surprised at how rap heavy it is, but also Drake's in like god tier mode and just flowing between rapping and singing on basically every song. The production is f***ing unbelievable. Features are insane. Those first two songs...the pockets he's finding on these beats.

Can't f***ing wait to hear this Wayne verse and outro. Obviously In need to listen to the whole album and let it set in but man...Drake really might be the undisputed GOAT after this.

Revisiting my first listen and reaction thoughts.

Feeling the intro a lot more. It is very smooth. Love, pun intended, the sample. Both this and The Remorse are kind of like part 1 and 2 to each other. They go together in a way. Maybe it is just me.

Papi's Home is good and works within the album but as a standalone track there are a lot of ones ahead of it for me. Of all the ones I am keeping from the album, it is probably towards the bottom if I were to do a ranking of all the songs.

Girls Want Girls has a bop to it and one of the ones getting a lot of streams it seems like. We are probably getting a video from him and Lil Baby if I were to guess anything.

In The Bible is a sleeper for me that I am appreciating a lot more with more listens.

As a whole the start is a lot better to me now. Maybe I was just tired after work on Friday when I listened to it in the evening and these late night type songs just made me more tired in a way. I was not really listening and didn't really connect to the songs even though it is usually my type of music and vibes. I love this now.

Love All, I still love the beat. Who made Jay so mad? He went crazy. I could crush you at any point and his mobster boss type s***.

Fair Trade is a good song and my opinion has not really changed on this one. I could see a video being made for this one too.

Way 2 Sexy I am not really f***ing with at all. Video is hilarious though.

TSU has a feel-good vibe about it. The beat-switch is still great and maybe it hits even more when I havent overplayed this song and I'm not really thinking about it, when I play it.

N 2 Deep… holy s*** what was I thinking? Song is godly. This is that late night drive getting a text from shorty to come through. Great song.

Pipe Down is one of the best songs on the album.

Both No Friends In The Industry and Knife Talk don´t exist on my version.

Yebba´s Heartbreak. Love this one. I really have to go through Yebbas catalog.

7AM On Bridle Path. When Drake is at his best, simply put.

Race My Mind is a great album cut. A very throw-back Drake song to me. I like the keys and the beat-switch into him rapping. As I did on my first listen.

Fountains… is a sleeper that has grown on me. It has a bit of a timeless vibe and content. You will probably be able to throw on this in a mix with One Dance, Too Good, Passionfruit and a few others in future. Some summertime vibes for sure.

Get Along Better is my favorite song on the album. I must have played it so many times by now.

You Only Live Twice well it might not be my favorite Ross x Drake song but man, Wayne went so crazy. I am very happy with this one.

IMY2 is cool but others have grown more on me as sleepers. Not mad at this one though. I am keeping it.

Fucking Fans is pretty much the same for me. A good album cut.

The Remorse is very dope. Whenever Drake gets into his introspective bag is always a good listening experience for me.

    18/21 songs.

Divide that. Times ten. And you get a score of 8.57/10 for me.

I am very happy with this album and think it will just keep growing. I will be bold and say I will probably put it neck-a-neck with Views, which aged great.

  • Man said “No friends in the Industry” & “Knife Talk” are not on his version
