I've been seeing a lot of tweets similar to this one:

which leads me to ask... what do you think of today's RnB? what's working? what's missing? what would you like to see/hear in the future?

Feel free to show love to artists you feel are killing it rn itt

would also like to shoutout Tommy Banks & RNBRadar, a gem as far as discovering new R&B goes.

Getting better & better recently. More maturity in sound and lyrics. More defined feelings and stories. Better singers becoming more visible again. Grown people music. Less “vibes” and crybaby teenager s***.

Agreed! I get that no one really can sing & dance nowadays, but the music itself hasn't been all that bad imo

Is there even a line between R&B and rap anymore
Like who’s even considered R&B? Would someone like Don Toliver be R&B? Not even hating I’m just genuinely curious

Mainstream R&B today has more mellow vibes/emotions and experimentation whereas older mainstream R&B was more vocally skilled, "simpy" , and had warmer vibes.

So, it depends on what you prefer cause there's plenty of talented R&B artists today as there were in the 90's/00's.

One thing that's lacking though, especially compared to the 90's, is groups and decent choreography.

Me too but I’m oversaturated. I dont need any more simp niggas that cant sing without interesting sound or mature perspective & feelings. I’m not 15 anymore.

Not really much generational R&B out right now. It's becoming a niche genre which I don't mind. Male talent is clearly lacking tho
